What Homecrest Actually Is — Since 1953, Still American-Made

Homecrest began in Wadena, Minnesota in 1953, and the company’s own history page still leads with it: “an iconic American brand since 1953.” Two things made the name. First, the motion chairs — swivel rockers and gliders that mid-century America put on porches and never took off. Second, staying power: the brand runs its own replacement program to this day, covering current and discontinued collections — “including our vintage wire frame collections,” in the program’s own words — with slings, cushions, pillows, paints and parts.

That program is the honest first stop for an owner who wants factory-original cushions, and it is a dealer-and-phone process with prices to match (the tables below show what dealers charge). What a custom mill adds is the other route: cut to your tape measure instead of a part number — one lost seat pad without a full-set order, 119 fabrics at one flat rate, and foam density you choose. Nothing here is cut until your numbers are confirmed.

What the Homecrest Channels Charge — Prices as Published

Two open markets exist for Homecrest cushions today, and both publish prices. They are the reference points your quote should beat:

Transcribed from authorized-dealer and specialist-workshop listings, checked October 2026; the official program also notes shipping within the contiguous US only. Note the pattern: a single high-back swivel rocker rebuild through the specialist route is $459 + $79 + $79 = $617 before shipping. The same three pieces cut to your measurements land far lower in the pricing table below.

The Sizes — No Public Chart, and What That Actually Means

Homecrest publishes no cushion dimension chart — not for the vintage numbered models, not for modern collections. Dimensions live inside the dealer ordering system, keyed to SKU (a Pearl Creek high-back dining cushion is HC49379CH, and the dealer looks up its numbers for you). For an owner, that means two workable routes:

Route one, the official way: call a dealer, identify the model, order the SKU, and pay dealer prices with dealer lead times. Route two, the custom way: take three measurements and a photo, and have the same pieces cut — in Sunbrella-class fabric, at your chosen foam density, without a full-set minimum. Both produce fitting cushions; only one of them lets you replace a single head pillow for less than a car payment.

Measure Your Chair — Three Numbers, One Photo

Tape measure across the round tubular steel seat frame of a vintage patio swivel rocker
  • Seat width, inside arm to inside arm — on round-tube frames measure where the straps or deck meet the arms, not across the outside of the tubing. The old pad flat on a bench works when the frame curves.
  • Seat depth, front to back — front rail to the back of the seat area. On swivel rockers the deck is smaller than the chair looks; measure the deck.
  • Thickness at the seam — the side edge, not the domed top. Vintage pads ran thick (4–5″); you can go firmer and thicker, or slimmer — the density is your call, and the order forms take eighths of an inch.
  • One photo, straight-on — with the numbers it settles the model question the order desk would otherwise call about. Wire-frame high backs also need back height, rim to seam.

Vintage Wire Frames, High Backs, Hanging Chairs — All Routine Here

Vintage wire-frame high-back patio swivel rocker with new tall back pad and seat pad in cream

The pieces Homecrest is loved for are the awkward ones: tall sculpted high-back pads for wire-frame swivel rockers, barrel-back sets like the Kingston, curved chaise pads for the Siesta, the H20 hanging-chair nest, glider loveseat runs. Universal pads give up on all of them — which is why the vintage market pays specialist prices.

A custom mill templates curves the same way the specialists do — three numbers, a photo, and a seam line traced off the old pad if the shape is complex. The difference is the price of the fabric is flat across 119 options and the pieces start at a per-piece make-base, not a collector premium.

Fabric Options — 119 Fabrics, One Flat Rate, Free Swatches

Homecrest frames from the fifties were upholstered in canvas and vinyl in colors that have since become collectible — turquoise, butterscotch, cream. Today the outdoor standard is solution-dyed acrylic (Sunbrella-class): fade-stable through summers of UV, quiet under rain, and the fabric your grandparents’ set deserved. Every one of the 119 fabrics prices the same flat rate, and swatches ship free before you commit — order a handful, hold them against the frame, then build.

The configurator above figures your exact numbers live. A full vintage high-back rebuild — seat $135, back $158 — still lands under $300, against $617 through the specialist channel.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which Homecrest model I have?

Vintage pieces carry a model number on a plate or stamp on the under-frame — #36 Bermuda, #90 Riviera, #105 Siesta and so on — and the frame style itself dates the era (blond round-tube steel with cross straps is fifties-to-sixties). Modern collections are named on the dealer tag and manual: Elements, Holly Hill, Blair, Anthem. A straight-on photo settles anything the label can’t.

Can you match the original Homecrest cushion pattern?

We cut to your measurements in any of 119 fabrics — including solids and textures true to the era’s turquoise, butterscotch and cream palette — but we don’t reproduce discontinued Homecrest prints or licensed patterns. For a restoration that must be print-exact, the vintage specialist channel is the honest answer; for everything else, your three numbers and a Sunbrella-class weave outlast the original fabric ever did.

What size are Homecrest replacement cushions?

There is no public chart — Homecrest sells by SKU through its official replacement program and dealers, and never published cushion dimensions for vintage or modern lines. Dealer pieces like the Pearl Creek collection run $224–$824 per set position. We cut from your tape measure instead: three numbers and a photo, which fits a #90 high-back as reliably as a modern dining chair.

How much do Homecrest replacement cushions cost?

The official dealer channel publishes $317 for a Pearl Creek standard swivel-rocker set position and $412 for a high-back; the vintage specialists list $459 for a Model #90 Riviera set plus $79 for the head pillow. Cut to your measurements from a $45 make-base, the same pieces estimate at $135 (seat, 22 × 20 × 4, 50D) and $158 (high back) — every fabric the same flat rate.

Do you make cushions for the wire-frame and hanging chairs too?

Yes — the tall sculpted pads for vintage wire-frame high backs, the H20 hanging-chair nest, barrel-back Kingston sets, Siesta chaise pads and glider loveseat runs are all routine custom work. Complex curves get a seam line traced off your old pad; simple boxes need only the three measurements. Send the photo and the order desk confirms the route before anything is cut.

How long do custom cushions take?

Made to order in 4–7 business days, or 3–5 on the rush lane when the season is biting, then shipping. Typical US custom shops quote three to six weeks door to door — straight rectangles run toward the fast end of our window, and traced curves add only a day or two.

Made and shipped by the same hands

Homecrest seat pads estimate from $114 (19 × 19 × 3 in., 50D) — four steps to a quote.
