Build Your Banquette Cushion

A banquette is the hardest-working seat in the house — breakfast, homework, holiday dinners, and everyone’s coat piled on top. Which is why the original cushion is usually flat, split at the seams, or stained beyond saving long before the bench itself gives out. And no restaurant-supply catalog stocks your corner angles or your 76-inch run.

We make banquette seating cushions to your measurements: straight runs, L-shapes for corner nooks, notched pieces to clear radiator pipes or table legs. High-density foam standard, because a banquette gets used every single day; durable, cleanable covers, because it also gets spilled on every single day. One corner nook or a full restaurant line — same factory, same made-to-order cut, no minimums.

Pricing — estimated starting at

Run / fabric tier Cotton Linen Performance Sunbrella
Per running foot (12 × 18 in. per ft) $89 $89 $89
Straight run 60 × 18 in. $266 $266 $266
L-shape nook (60 + 48 arms, 11.25 sq ft) $377 $377 $377

*Each piece: $45 make-base + top area × $29.47 per sq ft (4" 50D foam + fabric, all fabrics one price)
where it applies. High-density foam is standard on every banquette order. Every dimension is confirmed with you before we cut.

Custom banquette cushions tailored to the nook bench, made to your measurements

For comparison: a single 36×18×3 bench cushion from U.S. custom-configurator specialists lists at about $105 (2026 listing) before shipping. Our price is the formula above — published, checkable, no quote request.

Common Banquette Builds

Banquette type Typical build (in.) Thickness / density
Home dining nook L-shape, arms 36–60 × 48–72 4″ high-density
Straight banquette 60–96 × 18–20 4″ high-density
Restaurant booth Back + seat separate, seat 16–18 deep 4–5″ high-density

Yours differs? That’s the point — we cut to your numbers.

How to Measure a Banquette

  • L-shape: measure both arms along the outside — total long-arm length, total short-arm length — plus seat depth.
  • Back cushions are a separate order (and separate line item) from seat pads: measure each.
  • Daily-use seating wants high-density foam; commercial use can go firmer still — specify at checkout.
  • Radiator pipes or table legs in the run? That’s a notched piece — send the cutout position and dimensions.

Fabric Built for Spills and Heavy Use

Custom banquette cushions for dining nooks & restaurants construction close-up — foam core, fabric and stitching detail

Banquettes live at the intersection of heavy use and heavy spills. Commercial-grade performance weaves are the standing recommendation — abrasion-rated, bleach-cleanable, and rated for the restaurant trade as much as the kitchen nook. Solution-dyed acrylic adds sun-fastness for banquettes under windows. All covers close with a clean zipper — spot-clean in place between washes, the honest answer for a busy seat. See the full fabric guide for the tier-by-tier comparison.

Restaurant Booths and Commercial Runs

The same cutting tables serve the trade side of the category: booth seats and backs rebuilt piece by piece, counter runs re-padded in one matched lot, and the padding timelines a reopening actually works around. Commercial duty wants the firmer grades — 50D minimum, firmer on request — because booth foam cycles more sitters per week than any home seat sees in a year. One thing we state up front, the same as on our church pew page: if your jurisdiction or insurer requires documented commercial flammability specifications, tell us before ordering — we confirm in writing what we can and cannot certify rather than surprise you after the deposit. Send the booth-by-booth list (a spreadsheet is fine); each piece goes in as its own line item and the order ships as one dye lot.

Washable covers and leather for daily-duty banquettes

A banquette eats more spills per square foot than any seat in the house, so the cover plan matters as much as the foam. Every build here takes a full-length zipper — hidden on the underside — so the cover comes off without unbolting anything. The outdoor acrylics hose clean and shrug off juice; Cotton Linen and Velvet are machine-washable on cold with air-dry; and for the highest-traffic route, the leather and leather-look weaves wipe down with a damp cloth and age better for the wear. Restaurant booths and mudroom banquettes should take the leather-look path by default — it is what the commercial rebuilds in the next section run, and the reason is the same at home: ten wipes a day, every day, for years.

Frequently asked questions

How do I measure an L-shaped banquette?

Two numbers along the outside: the total length of the long arm and the total length of the short arm, plus the seat depth. Measure the cushion flat if you have the old one; otherwise measure the deck edge to edge and subtract 1/4 inch. Type the finished cushion size — if you measured the opening, subtract the 1/4 inch yourself; we don’t deduct it twice.

Can I get just a seat cushion, or seat and back?

Either. Most home nooks order seat-only pads on a wood back; restaurant booths usually replace seat and back together so the foam profile matches. Order them as separate line items in the same fabric.

What foam density do banquettes need?

High-density foam, standard for anything used daily. Softer foam feels plush in the showroom and bottoms out in a season of family dinners. We default high-density and can go firmer for commercial use. For the grade-by-grade breakdown, see how to choose foam density.

Can I order standard banquette cushion sizes?

Yes — standard sizes too, in 3 clicks. Straight runs at 16–18 inches deep by any length type straight into the customizer for an instant factory-direct quote — nothing stocked, nothing out of stock. L-shapes and corner notches stay custom; send the two outside numbers and we map the pieces with you.

How is a banquette different from a breakfast nook cushion?

Same family, different scale discipline: the breakfast nook build is the home L-shape with corner blocks and sill-height backs; banquette work adds restaurant duty — booth seat-and-back profiles, longer runs, firmer foam, and the option of a whole-room matched lot. The measuring method (both arms along the outside, corner checked for square) is identical.

Can you match an existing booth’s foam profile?

Usually — measure the seat’s thickness at the front edge and the back’s loft at top and bottom (booth backs are often wedge-profiled), and we cut to those numbers. Where a profile involves channels or attached trim beyond the cushion itself, send a photo and we will confirm what transfers to our build before you order.

How long does a custom banquette set take?

Your order starts at the cutting table: production is 4–7 business days, with rush production at 3–5 business days for a surcharge. Delivery is 3–6 weeks door to door. Typical US custom shops quote 3–6 weeks for the same build.

Can you fill the gap between my banquette seat and the wall?

Yes — order a filler strip cut to the seam’s three numbers: width, height and length. Banquettes built against walls commonly leave a one-to-three-inch gap where the seat ends and the wall begins; the fix is the same foam cut-to-size order as the cushions themselves — half an inch to an inch wider than the gap, run the full seam, 35D where nothing presses on it nightly. The rectangle card takes the numbers — or order the same seam strip as a cut-to-size gap filler, cover optional.

Is a Banquette Cushion Right for You?

  • Commercial work needs the certification talk first. If your inspector requires documented commercial flammability specifications, say so before ordering — we confirm in writing what we can and cannot certify rather than surprise you after the deposit.
  • Pricing runs per piece, per area — not per booth. Each straight run, corner and back is its own line item at 45 USD make-base plus area; the per-running-foot figure (89 USD, 12 × 18 in.) is a comparator, not the quote.
  • Unsure about color? Email the factory before you order. Screens shift color, and dining light shifts it again — send a photo of where the cushion will live and we will tell you honestly how each fabric reads in that spot. The two-minute email is cheaper than a wrong-color guess.
  • Custom-cut means non-returnable. Custom-cut means non-returnable. A cushion cut to your numbers fits exactly one frame on earth — tolerances are published in writing (±½″, ±¾″ over 36″), and anything outside them against your confirmed numbers is remade free, whenever the error is found.

Made by the factory that ships them

  • Outdoor cushion factory for 10+ years — we cut, fill, and sew every order ourselves.
  • Every dimension you send is re-checked before a single yard of fabric is cut.
  • Made-to-order means any fabric, any piece, no minimum.
  • If we cut it wrong — outside the ±½″ tolerance (±¾″ over 36″), wrong fabric, wrong build — remade free.
