Build Your 22 x 24 Cushion

The 22 x 24 rectangle is the deep-seating workhorse you’ve never seen on a shelf: wide enough for lounge comfort, deep enough that the frame does the ergonomic work, and sized to no stock chart anywhere. In our measurement library it’s practically a signature — the entire Cedar Island line runs seats at 22 x 24 to 24.5, and Fenton lounge pieces at 22.5 x 24.75 — all frames whose original pads left the market with the furniture.

We cut 22 x 24 outdoor seat cushions to your exact measurements, to the quarter inch. Six documented library pieces at this rectangle are charted below, so Cedar Island and Fenton owners can match before ordering rather than hope. Thickness 4 to 5 inches suits deep seating; fabrics run Tech Fabric, our waterproof, wipe-clean leather-like workhorse for open decks; Cotton Linen for covered porches and indoors; and Premium Velvet, plush claw-resistant velvet. Factory-direct, made to order.

Pricing — estimated starting at

Fabric tierEstimated price*
Cotton Linen$109
Tech Fabric$133
Premium Velvet$164

*One cushion, 22 × 24 in. (3.67 sq ft top surface): $39 make-base + 3.67 sq ft × fabric rate ($19.0/sq ft, $25.5/sq ft, $34.0/sq ft). Thickness, foam density, and the sewn closure is confirmed at checkout — and every dimension is confirmed with you before we cut.

For comparison: U.S. custom-configurator specialists’ 2026 listings for made-to-order cushions in common sizes (16×16 through 24×24) run roughly $71–$119 before shipping — and most only reveal that price after a quote request. We publish the formula above so you can check the math before you order.

How to measure a 22 x 24 cushion

Cabana Stripe Canvas - Red
  • Old cushion flat on a table: width edge to edge, depth front to back, thickness seam to seam — never squeezed.
  • Depth is front-to-back on the seat deck — from the back cushion line to the front edge, not the frame’s outside.
  • Photograph the label under the frame — Cedar Island and Fenton owners can match a documented chart in seconds.

Fabric Options at 22 x 24

Deep-seating exposure logic applies: Tech Fabric open-air, Cotton Linen covered, Premium Velvet indoor. Sets in one fabric run. Full tier comparison: outdoor fabric guide.

Seat cushion or chair cushion?

Thickness and density at 22 x 24

A 22 x 24 seat is the standard deep-seating module — the most common lounge-seat footprint in the measured library. Five inches is the spec; 5.5–6 plush; below 4.5 dishes between seams. Backs run the seat width at 18–26 high, 4–7 loft.

Density 50D daily, 60D nap-grade, 65D mattress duty on daybed-adjacent frames. Grade and dimensions confirmed in writing before cutting.

The two phrases overlap and the furniture does not care — but the order does, a little. In our usage a seat cushion is the pad alone: one deck, one rectangle, and this page prices exactly that. A chair cushion usually means the chair’s full build — seat plus a back pad, tied or strapped to a named frame type — which is why the chair cushions line runs its own pages for rockers, Adirondacks, and wicker frames.

Practical translation: if you are re-padding the flat square you sit on, order here — width, depth, thickness, done. If the chair needs its back rebuilt too, that is a second pad in the same order (backs in this family run the seat width, 18–24 high, 4–7 inches of loft), not a different product. Same factory floor, same formula, one dye lot across both pieces.

Thickness at 22 x 24

The 24-inch depth puts this rectangle firmly in deep-seating, and the ladder is short: four inches is the tailored floor — the Cedar Island dining seats left the factory at 4.5 — five is the standard the lounge builds assume, and anything past 5.5 belongs on frames built for real sinking. Below four on a daily-use lounge frame, the foam dishes and the pad starts walking toward the front rail. Backs, ordered in the same run, run their own loft at 4–7 inches and often a wedge profile; measure loft top and bottom, not once.

Frequently asked questions

Close — 24.5 sits just inside our ¾″ tolerance. But don’t round: measure your old pad flat and order the exact numbers, and the fit is factory-tailored.
Three tiers, at every size: Tech Fabric, our waterproof, wipe-clean leather-like weave — the outdoor workhorse; Cotton Linen, a durable everyday weave with no pilling, shrinking, or fading, best under covered patios and indoors; and Premium Velvet, plush high-density velvet with a claw-resistant weave for indoor luxury. A 16-inch square gets the same fabrics as a 60-inch bench pad.

Spot clean is the rule — every cover is sewn closed, so plan on wipes, not machine washing. Tech Fabric is the easy one: a waterproof surface that wipes clean with a damp cloth. Cotton Linen spot-cleans, with a low-heat iron on the reverse if it creases. Velvet can be dry cleaned or gently hand washed, brushing the pile flat to dry; Chenille is spot clean only — never brush the tufts. Free fabric samples ship with every quote, so you can judge the weave by hand before you commit.

Because it is the module factories standardized on for lounge seating — the Cedar Island, Lake Adele and Lily Bay charts are built around near squares of it. When a series retires, this is the size that disappears from stock first.
Yes — seats, backs and ottomans as line items in one order and one fabric run. Count blocks first: ottomans are the piece people forget (see the note in deep seat cushions).
Nothing in the product — both are custom-cut rectangles at the same formula. “Seat” pages price the pad alone; “chair” language usually implies seat plus back as a set. If your frame needs both, add the back pad to this order and both pieces ship from one fabric run.
