Build Your Mattress Topper
A topper is the cheapest square footage of sleep improvement you can buy: two to four inches of real foam, cut to the exact footprint of the bed you already own, doing one job the mattress underneath stopped doing years ago. Off-the-shelf toppers come in six sizes and one foam grade; beds, RV bunks, sofa beds and antique frames do not. That gap is this page. We cut custom mattress toppers to your measurements — width, depth and thickness you type in, high-density HR foam you pick by density, and a tailored cover sewn around it in any of 59 fabrics.
The orders that land here are the honest ones: a too-firm queen softened two inches; a ten-year-old topper compressed into felt, replaced like-for-like at a density that will outlast the last one; an RV bunk upgraded from the factory pad that shipped like an afterthought; a sofa-bed bar disguised once and for all. Every one of them is the same rectangle of engineering — flat top, uniform thickness, edges cut square — just sized to a different life.

Pricing — estimated starting at
| Fabric tier | Estimated price* |
|---|---|
| Cotton Linen | $544 |
| Tech Fabric | $544 |
| Premium Velvet | $544 |
*One Twin topper (38 × 75 × 2 in.): $45 make-base + 19.8 sq ft × rate ($25.20 per sq ft, 2" 50D foam + fabric, all 59 fabrics one price). The same topper at 3" runs $587, at 4" $628; Queen and King sizes price on their own area at the same formula — every topper, one calculator.
Foam-only core, no cover: available on request. If the topper is going inside a cover you already own — or straight under a fitted sheet — send your size and density and we quote the bare core at foam rates. Both lanes, one factory.

Standard Topper Sizes We Cut
Standard sizes are just custom orders that get ordered a lot. Type any of these into the calculator — enter the longer side as Width, since the calculator caps depth at 72 inches — and the quote is instant:
| Size | Inches (W × D) | At 3" 50D, estimated |
|---|---|---|
| Twin | 75 × 38 | $587 |
| Twin XL | 80 × 38 | $623 |
| Full | 75 × 54 | $815 |
| Queen | 80 × 60 | $957 |
| King | 80 × 76 | $1,201 |
| Cal King | 84 × 72 | $1,195 |
Nothing is warehoused, so no size is ever out of stock — and no odd size is ever refused. Short queens (60 × 74 and 60 × 75), split kings, three-quarter bunks and trailer platforms are ordinary Tuesdays here.
Thickness Guide: 2, 3 or 4 Inches
Thickness is the decision the whole purchase hangs on, and it maps to what the topper is for:
- 2 inches — soften a firm bed. The mattress is healthy but hard; two inches of 50D takes the edge off without changing the sleep height or fighting the mattress underneath. The connoisseur’s adjustment, not a rescue.
- 3 inches — replace a worn topper. The standard grade of renewal: an old 2–3 inch topper that has compressed into felt gets replaced with real density that holds its height. Most orders on this page are 3 inches.
- 3–4 inches — RV and sofa bed upgrade. Thin factory pads and bar-across-the-back sofa beds need structure, not just padding: 3 inches of 50D (4 inches for heavier sleepers or daily use) turns both into beds people volunteer to sleep on.
Above 4 inches you are no longer topping a mattress — you are replacing one, and that conversation is a different page.

Density: 50D to 65D HR Foam
Toppers live under a full body weight for eight hours a night — the density floor is higher than for seat cushions. All three of our topper grades are high-resilience foam; the choice is how much use and how many years:
| Density | Choose it when | Feel over time |
|---|---|---|
| 50D | The every-night topper. Standard renewal grade, and what 80% of orders ship in. | Supportive with give; 8–10 honest years of nightly use. |
| 60D | Heavier sleepers, or a topper that doubles as the bed (RV, guest-room daybed). | Firmer, slower to take a set; the upgrade most regrets skipping. |
| 65D | Maximum longevity and structure — sofa-bed duty over a frame bar, frequent RV folding. | The firmest cut; adds real height and holds it for years. |
The full grading logic — what density actually is, and how to match it to body weight and use — is in how to choose foam density.
Fabric Options
The cover is half the topper: it is what you touch, what launders, and what keeps the foam core living where you put it. Every topper is sewn with a tailored cover, a continuous side panel, and a zipper along one edge so the core can be aired or rotated. All 59 fabrics sit at one price — five families, from breathable linens through tech fabrics to premium velvets, every one cut for indoor and covered use; the leather-like tech fabric is a natural pick for RV and marine toppers that live against humidity. Swatch logic and the honest tier trade-offs are the same ones in our fabric guide.
How to Measure for a Custom Topper

- Width and depth, edge to edge of the surface the topper will sit on — the mattress top, the sofa-bed deck, the RV platform — tape square to the edges, to the nearest quarter inch. Never corner-to-corner: a diagonal tape reads long on both axes.
- Replacing an old topper? Measure the deck underneath it, not the sagging pad — a compressed old topper under-reads at the center and over-reads over any crown.
- Thickness at the edge, seam to seam if it has a cover: 2, 3 or 4 inches. If you are nudging the sleep height, mind door swings and fitted-sheet depth.
- Then run the 60-second diagonal check — both diagonals, corner to corner, within a quarter inch of each other — before you order. The full walkthrough is in how to measure a rectangle cushion.
Measure twice, photograph once: a phone shot from directly above with the tape laid along each edge answers every follow-up question before we have to ask it. More walkthroughs in our measuring guides.
Topper vs. Replacement Foam: Two Different Jobs
The words get used interchangeably; the jobs are opposite. A topper adds a layer to a surface that stays — mattress, sofa bed, RV platform; the old layer (if any) comes off or goes under, and the topper is the new sleeping surface. Replacement foam is a core cut to replace the collapsed interior of a cover you keep — the futon that lost its futon-ness, the sofa cushion that prints your shape. Same foam library, same calculator, different sentence in the workshop. If the piece that needs new life is a futon or sofa cushion rather than a bed, the honest page is custom futon cushions; if the frame is a sleeper sofa, start there too.
What we ship is a cut-to-size foam component — a topper, not a certified mattress. It carries no mattress certification claims and makes none.
Frequently asked questions
Do you sell a foam-only topper without the cover?
Yes — foam-only pricing is available on request. The calculator prices the complete topper: foam core, tailored cover, zipper, your fabric. If the core is going straight under a fitted sheet or inside a cover you already own, send your width, depth, thickness and density, and we quote the bare core at foam rates — the same refill arithmetic our replacement foam service runs on.
Topper or replacement foam core — which one do I need?
If the surface underneath is staying and you want a new layer on top, it is a topper. If a cover is staying and its insides are dead, it is a replacement core. One question decides it: which layer are you keeping?
How thick should a custom topper be?
2 inches to fine-tune a firm mattress, 3 to replace a worn topper or upgrade an RV or sofa bed for average sleepers, 4 when the upgrade is the bed or the sleeper is heavy. Denser foam does more per inch — a 3" 60D often outperforms a cheap 4" topper that was never really 4 inches to begin with.
Do you cut standard topper sizes — Queen, King, Twin?
Yes, and every non-standard size in between. Enter the longer side as Width in the calculator (it caps the second dimension at 72 inches), and short queens, split kings, RV bunks and odd antiques all quote the same way — instant, area-based, one formula. Nothing is stocked, so nothing is out of stock.
How long does a custom topper take, and what does shipping cost?
Every topper is cut and sewn after you order: production runs 4–7 business days. Shipping is free on orders over $158 — every topper on this page clears that bar — and a flat $29 below it, straight from the factory door.
Made by the factory that ships them
There is no brand office between you and this topper. Your numbers go into the queue, foam gets cut to a quarter-inch tolerance and re-checked against your order before the knife drops, the cover is sewn and slipped in the same building, and the box is sealed a few steps from the cutting table. If we ever cut it wrong, we remake it free — that policy is cheaper for everyone than hoping you do not notice. It is also why a custom topper costs what it costs: you are paying for a factory’s Tuesday, not a warehouse’s clearance shelf.
