Mainstays Replacement Cushions — Custom Cut, Any Set
Walmart’s house patio brand — series rotate out with the seasons and the cushions go first. Replacement cushions cut to your measurements, factory-direct; the published trail your set left behind sits on this page, and your tape measure is the number we cut to.

What Mainstays Actually Is — Walmart’s House Brand, Rewritten Every Season
Mainstays is Walmart’s biggest house brand — budget patio lines sold at big-box volume, in series like Lawson Ridge, Willow Springs, Brookwood Landing, Sand Dune, Sienna, Warner Heights, Wentworth, Crossman, Rockview and Pyros. The steel frames outlast the fabric by years, but the model you bought is usually rotated out within a season or two — and its size chart disappears with the listing.
The brand has no replacement-cushion channel at all: Walmart sells the furniture, never the refills, and the best-documented piece in its history — the Orbit Lounger — has been unbuyable for five years by its own owner-resource site’s count. What keeps a discontinued Mainstays set alive is a workshop that cuts to measurements: single pads, full sets, or the giant round Orbit pad nobody stocks anymore (the reference table sits below).

Pricing — estimated starting at
| Fabric tier | Estimated price* |
|---|---|
| Cotton Linen | $182 |
| Tech Fabric | $182 |
| Premium Velvet | $182 |
*The as-listed Mainstays chair cushion size (37 × 19.5 in., 5.0 sq ft) rebuilt as a real cushion: $45 make-base + 5.0 sq ft × rate ($27.37 per sq ft, 3″ 50D foam + any of the 119 fabrics — fabric prices flat) ≈ $182. In 35D the same block runs ≈ $178; the configurator figures your exact numbers live.
The Orbit Lounger is the honest extreme: a 66″-diameter × 3″ round core is 30.25 sq ft of foam — about $873 in 50D through the configurator, which is precisely why nobody stocks it. Rebuilt at the original 2″ thickness the same round runs near $807; cut to your own frame measurements (77″ × 61″) and the number is yours, not a catalog’s.
Where Your Set Lives — Two Different Spec Generations
| Steel dining and seat sets (Lawson Ridge generation) | Orbit-class round loungers | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical failure | Thin fiber-fill pads flatten and fade in one hard summer of full sun | The pad is the furniture — sun bakes the top and the 2″ core goes brittle at the fold line |
| Universal-pad fit | Poor — year-to-year model changes make this season’s “universal” pad next season’s odd size | None — a 66″-plus round pad for a discontinued lounger is not stocked anywhere |
| Replacement spec | 45–50D foam cores; solution-dyed acrylic covers for seasons of sun | Full-thickness rebuild: 50D-plus core cut round to your measured diameter and chosen thickness |
Mainstays frames outlive their cushions by design — the furniture is the repeat purchase. Identify which generation yours is before ordering; the fill and fabric specs are different jobs, and the comparison table maps the two.
Measure Your Piece — Three Numbers, One Photo
- n
- Width first, frame over foam — inside edge to inside edge of the steel frame where the pad sits. Your model’s listing is gone; the frame is the surviving record. Measure the frame whenever it is bare, the old pad only when it is not. n
- Depth front to back — the current-line chair cushion lists at 37″ × 19.5″; if your tape says otherwise, your tape wins and we cut to it. n
- Thickness at the seam — measure the old pad’s side, not its domed top. Orbit Lounger originals ran 2″; the order forms take 2″ to 8″, recorded to the nearest quarter inch. n
- One photo, straight-on — with the three numbers it settles every question the order desk would otherwise call you about. n
Fabric Options — 119 Fabrics, One Flat Rate
Every fabric on the list prices the same, so the choice is touch and duty, not markup. Cotton Linen is a natural breathable weave for covered rooms; Tech Fabric is waterproof and wipe-clean, the pragmatic pick for poolside sets and kids; Premium Velvet resists pilling and claws. For full weather exposure, the solution-dyed acrylic (Sunbrella-class) line is the outdoor standard — fade-stable and quiet under rain, a clear class up from the seasonal retail pad your set shipped with.
Mainstays Pieces We Cut For
- n
- Dining and seat-set cushions — the Lawson Ridge and Willow Springs generation of dining sets, cut block by block in one production run so every piece matches. n
- Swing and glider pads — the long one-piece pads Mainstays shipped on porch swings and gliders, any length you measure. n
- Orbit Lounger round pads — the 66″-diameter class giant on its 77″ × 61″ frame, rebuilt at your measured diameter and chosen thickness. n
- Chaise and lounger pads — headrest, seat and full-length one-piece cuts for the Mainstays loungers still in rotation. n
- Bench and picnic pieces — two- and three-seat bench pads sold through the big-box seasons, any length. n
- Any discontinued series — Brookwood Landing, Sand Dune, Sienna, Warner Heights, Wentworth, Crossman, Rockview, Pyros and every line Walmart rotated out before them: no chart survives, but your tape measure does. n

What the retail route sells (and what a mill adds)
The retail route sells you a new set, not a refill: Walmart stocks current-series furniture, and when a series rotates out its cushions go with it — the best-documented case being the Orbit Lounger, dead stock for five years with nothing on the shelf to replace it. One 35-year US cushion shop still sews Mainstays series sets (Lawson Ridge, Willow Springs and the rest, made to the old specs, store-priced) — the closest thing the brand has to a channel. What neither route does is the single lost pad, the set that pre-dates their charts, or a thickness and fabric you choose yourself — those orders come to a workshop that cuts to measurements.
One distinction worth knowing before either route: some shops also sell replacement covers. Covers re-dress sound foam; replacement cushions renew the foam itself. Seats that have gone soft need cushions, not covers — the deeper comparison is in our cushion covers vs full replacement guide.
Frequently asked questions
Three numbers and a photo. Width inside the steel frame, depth front to back, thickness at the seam edge — the frame, not the old pad, whenever the set is bare. Your model’s listing is gone, so your tape is the surviving record; note it to the nearest quarter inch, and the order forms take eighths.
Yes — Lawson Ridge, Willow Springs, Brookwood Landing, Sand Dune, Sienna, Warner Heights, Wentworth, Crossman, Rockview, Pyros, and everything Walmart rotated out before them. No official chart survives the delisting, so every cut is made to your three measurements and one photo. We are an independent workshop, not affiliated with Walmart or the Mainstays brand.
Yes — it is the classic dead-stock case. The Orbit’s own owner-resource site documents the frame at 77″ × 61″ with a 2″ original pad, and the best stockable workaround (a 66″-diameter × 3″ round foam) doesn’t match the frame. We cut the round core to your measured diameter at your chosen thickness — a 66″ × 3″ rebuild runs near $873 in 50D simply because 30 square feet of foam is a real block of material.
There is no official chart — sizes changed with every series. The published references that survive: the current-line chair cushion lists at 37″ × 19.5″, and the Orbit Lounger frame measures 77″ long × 61″ wide with a 2″ original pad. Your own measurements outrank all of it — the configurator prices exactly what your tape says.
From a $45 make-base plus area at per-sq-ft rates: the as-listed chair cushion size (37 × 19.5 × 3, 50D foam) estimates at $182, and a full Orbit Lounger round rebuild runs near $873 — 30 square feet of foam, which is why nobody stocks it. Every fabric prices flat, so fabric choice never moves the number.
Made to order in 4–7 business days (3–5 rush when the season is biting), then shipping in 3-6 weeks, roughly half the wait typical US custom shops quote; straight rectangles run toward the fast end of the window, and Orbit-class giant rounds go through a measure-and-confirm pass first.
