Deep-seat depth: why 26 is the marker

Thickness and density at 24 x 26

A 24 x 26 seat is deep-seating geometry — the 26-inch depth is lounge depth, built for sitting back rather than sitting up. Five inches is the standard that makes that depth work; 5.5–6 buys the plush tier on premium frames. Below 4.5 inches, a pad this deep dishes where the sitter’s weight concentrates, and the front edge collapses first.

Density spans matter at lounge scale: 50D is the daily standard, 60D where the chair hosts naps, 65D for genuine mattress duty. Back cushions for these frames run their own loft (4–7 inches, often wedge-shaped) — order seats and backs in one run so loft and dye lot agree.

Depth is the dimension that separates the two postures of outdoor seating. Dining decks run 17–20 inches — upright, knees down, table close. Deep-seating decks run past 25 — and 26 is where the category starts in practice, deep enough that the frame does the ergonomic work and the sitter sinks.
