What Lloyd Flanders Actually Is — The Original Loom Wicker Since 1906

Lloyd Flanders is the heir to the original all-weather wicker: Marshall B. Lloyd opened his Menominee, Michigan weaving works in 1906, patented the Lloyd Loom® process in 1917, and in 1982 Don and Dudley Flanders bought the looms from Heywood-Wakefield to build furniture durable enough to live outdoors. The woven frame outlasts every cushion on it — which is why the cushions, not the wicker, are what you are replacing.

The factory publishes no public size chart and sells nothing direct — official replacement cushions route through dealers, with Calypso sets listed at $491 to $1,312 at an authorized dealer (the reference table sits below). What a custom mill adds is everything the dealer route doesn’t do: single pieces without buying a full set, any density from 35D to 65D, 119 fabrics at one flat rate, and your measurements — not a stock chart — deciding every cut.

As listed by independent dealers and cushion specialists in Sunbrella-family fabrics (checked October 2026; sources named row by row so you can cross-check yourself). Lloyd Flanders itself publishes no size chart and does not sell direct — official cushions are ordered through its retailers. Treat every figure as a reference to measure against: your tape measure is the number we cut to.

Pricing — estimated starting at

Fabric tierEstimated price*
Cotton Linen$195
Tech Fabric$195
Premium Velvet$195

*One Embassy I seat block (24½ × 26 × 7 in., 4.4 sq ft): $45 make-base + 4.4 sq ft × rate ($33.74 per sq ft, 7″ 50D foam + any of the 119 fabrics — fabric prices flat) ≈ $195. In 65D the same block runs ≈ $217; the configurator figures your exact numbers live.

Sets are per-block multiples — a Calypso sofa is six blocks, a loveseat four. The dealer set prices above give you the comparison point before you build: at the published block sizes, the same sofa estimates around $1,050 through the configurator.

Where Your Set Lives — Two Different Frame Families

Lloyd Loom wicker framesWoven vinyl, teak and aluminum frames
Typical failureFabric fade and flattened loft — covered porches that still catch sunFull weather exposure — UV, rain and mildew reach the foam first
Universal-pad fitPoor — curved-front seats and 7″ loom-wicker lofts are nobody’s stock sizePoor — deep-seat frames and chaise runs don’t map to big-box pads
Replacement spec50–60D foam cores; solution-dyed acrylic covers for seasons of sunSolution-dyed acrylic throughout; 50D-plus cores, quick-dry logic for open sky

Both families share the same enemy: a frame built for decades wrapped in foam built for seasons. Identify where yours lives before ordering — the fill and fabric specs are different jobs, and the comparison table maps the two.

Measure Your Piece — Three Numbers, One Photo

Measuring a loom-wicker loveseat seat cushion edge to edge with a tape measure
    n
  • Width first, frame over foam — inside edge to inside edge of the woven frame where the cushion sits. Measure the frame whenever the frame is bare; measure the old cushion only when it is not.
  • n
  • Depth front to back — the published Embassy I seat runs 24½″ wide × 26″ deep; if your tape says otherwise, your tape wins and we cut to it.
  • n
  • Thickness at the seam — measure the old cushion’s side, not its domed top. The order forms take increments to ⅙″; record to the nearest quarter inch.
  • n
  • One photo, straight-on — with the three numbers it settles every question the order desk would otherwise call you about.

Fabric Options — 119 Fabrics, One Flat Rate, Free Swatches

Lloyd Flanders upholstered its own cushions in Sunbrella® and other solution-dyed acrylics — the factory’s own care page says so. Our replacements follow the same logic: the solution-dyed acrylic (Sunbrella-class) line is the outdoor standard — fade-stable, quiet under rain, cleanable with the exact bleach-and-water wash the Lloyd Flanders care sheet prescribes — and every fabric on the list prices the same, so the choice is touch and duty, not markup. Free swatch cards on request: see and feel the exact cloth before anything is cut.

What the Lloyd Flanders dealer route sells (and what a mill adds)

The official route is alive but indirect: lloydflanders.com publishes no size chart and sells nothing to consumers, and official replacement cushions are quoted through its retailer network — dealers like the ones charted above, with Calypso sets from $491 to $1,312. If you want the exact original block through the exact original channel, that route exists. What it can’t do is the single lost seat block, the retired collection nobody charts anymore, a density the dealer doesn’t list, or a fabric outside the factory card — those orders come to a workshop that cuts to measurements.

One distinction worth knowing before either route: some dealers also sell replacement covers. Covers re-dress sound foam; replacement cushions renew the foam itself. Seats that have gone soft need cushions, not covers — the deeper comparison is in our cushion covers vs full replacement guide.

Frequently asked questions

Three numbers and a photo. Width inside the woven frame, depth front to back, thickness at the seam edge — the frame, not the old cushion, whenever the wicker is bare. The published Embassy I seat is 24½″ × 26″ × 7″; if your tape disagrees, your tape is what we cut to. Record to the nearest quarter inch; the order forms take eighths.

Yes — the ten current Lloyd Loom collections, the thirteen other-materials collections, and the retired lines dealers stopped charting. Published dealer sizes are our reference; unpublished pieces are routine: your three measurements, one photo, and the block is cut. We are an independent workshop, not affiliated with Lloyd Flanders.

Test the foam, not the fabric. Press the seat flat and count: if it rebounds instantly and holds its edges, a cover is the cheaper fix. If it stays dished or the edges have gone soft, the foam is done and a cover is money on a dead core. Our cushion covers close with zippers — spot cleaning between washes, and covers remove for washing.

There is no factory chart — Lloyd Flanders publishes no public sizes and sells nothing direct. The dealer-published reference: Embassy I seats 24½″ × 26″ × 7″ with 25″ × 20″ × 6″ backs; Calypso sets ship as two-, four- or six-cushion sets to factory specs. Collections differ block by block, and your own measurements outrank all of it.

From a $45 make-base plus area at per-sq-ft rates: an Embassy I seat block (24½ × 26 × 7, 50D foam) estimates at $195, and the dealer Calypso sofa set lists at $1,312 for comparison — a useful anchor before you build. Every fabric prices flat, so fabric choice never moves the number.

Made to order in 4–7 business days (3–5 rush when the season is biting), then shipping in 3-6 weeks, roughly half the wait typical US custom shops quote — and straight rectangles like these seat blocks run toward the fast end of the window.

Made and shipped by the same hands

Lloyd Flanders seat blocks estimate from $195 (24½ × 26 × 7 in., 50D) — four steps to a quote.

We are an independent cushion manufacturer, not affiliated with Lloyd Flanders, LLC or any retailer. “Lloyd Flanders,” “Lloyd Loom®” and the collection names above are used only to identify the furniture these cushions are made to fit.
