How to Measure a Breakfast Nook Cushion
- Measure each run separately, end to end and front to back — the two legs of an L are rarely the same length, and the corner block eats depth from both.
- Check the corner before trusting it: measure corner-to-corner diagonally in both directions. Older breakfast nooks are routinely out of square by half an inch, and a square-cut cushion set shows the gap at the miter.
- Backs: measure the free wall height between seat top and window sill or wainscot rail — the sill sets the back height, not the other way round.
- Hinged storage seats: find the hinge line and split there; account for the lid lip so the front edge does not bind when it closes.
