Dutailier spent four decades as the premium nursery glider: Canadian-made maple frames, glide mechanisms that secondhand listings still sell in a day because “they don’t wear out.” The company closed in 2023. The replacement-cushion program ended June 4, 2023, the warranty desk followed on July 7, and the maker’s own domain has since gone offline — there is no official channel left to order from, for any model, in any fabric.
That leaves an installed base going back decades — the Dutailier replacement cushions search exists because the chairs refused to die with the company. First, the Model Number — Where It Lives on Every Frame
Dutailier’s own placement guidance still works on every chair they made, and it takes a minute:
- On wooden gliders — lift the seat cushion and read the label underneath it; where the seat pad carries no label, check the chair back down near the seat rail.
- On ottomans — the sticker is glued to the wood underneath the cushion.
- The numbers look like 827, 908, 0393, 2646 — a model number, not a size. That number places your chair in one of the families below.

The Ottoman Runs on the Same Clock
Most Dutailier gliders spent their lives beside a matching ottoman, and the ottoman pad compresses on the same nightly schedule as the seat. When a set is being rebuilt, the ottoman is usually worth re-ordering in the same run: same fabric batch, same dye lot, so the pair matches now and ages evenly. Its model sticker lives on the wood underneath the cushion — the same minute of label-hunting covers both pieces.

How to Measure a Dutailier Set
The rule that matters most: the frame always runs larger — never measure the chair. Lay the old pad flat and measure:
- Seat width corner to corner, and depth front to back — seam to seam, not including any swell in the foam.
- Thickness with the pad standing on edge — seam to seam. Gliders have a height relationship to the armrests that an over-thick replacement can upset.
- Back cushion width and height — tall backs and arm wings are outline pieces, not rectangles. Send a photo and we confirm the shape before anything is cut.
- Armrest pads — length, width, thickness, if your frame uses them.

Fabric and Foam for a Nursery Workhorse
A nursery glider is indoor furniture that eats outdoor-level abuse: thousands of hours of nightly rocking, spills of every origin, a decade of service per child. Two specs do the work:
Foam. The seat wants a firm, high-density core — 45–60D territory for daily-use seating, because density is lifespan under daily loading. Back cushions are a genuine preference call: fiber fill (soft, snuggly, wants a monthly re-loft) or a softer foam (holds its shape, less squish). Fabric. The chair that survives a decade of nursery use is the one whose cover cleans up. Washable, abrasion-rated indoor families are the practical spec; dark and patterned cloths hide the specific stains nurseries produce.
