Description

Build Your Loveseat Cushion

A loveseat is a two-seat couch with a sizing trap: some makers build it as one long joined cushion deck, others as two separate seat blocks, and the replacement aisle sells whichever one you do not have. Add the T-cushion arms that push the seat forward under each arm, and the stock aisle is done — your loveseat was measured by nobody.

We cut loveseat cushions both ways to your numbers: a joined one-piece deck (44–48 inches, no seam gap in the middle) or two matched blocks, plus fiber backs and notched T-cushion arms — in 45–60D foam for daily duty, one production run so both seats get the same loft and dye lot. Discontinued frames are routine here: dimensions in, cushions out.

Enter the deck as one piece or as two blocks — whatever your frame actually runs — then back height and thickness, and pick your fabric tier.

Cotton Linen $261

Premium Velvet $261

*One joined seat deck (44 × 23 × 5 in.): $45 make-base + 7.0 sq ft × rate ($30.79 per sq ft, 5" 50D foam + fabric). Two-block builds price as two smaller pieces; backs and T-cushion notches price on their own area.

For comparison: U.S. custom-configurator specialists’ 2026 listings run loveseat sets well above formula price once configured — and most only reveal that number after a quote request. We publish the formula above so you can check the math before you order.

Popular Loveseat Sizes We Cut

Piece Typical size Notes
Joined seat deck 44–48 W × 21–24 D × 4.5–5.5" One piece, no mid-seam — the version the aisle rarely stocks
Two seat blocks 2 × 20–23 W × 21–24 D Rotatable; check whether yours is actually built this way
T-cushion arms Seat extends forward under each arm The notch is the dimension people miss — sketch it
Back cushions 2 blocks, 20–23 W × 18–22 H Usually fiber-filled; counted separately from foam seats
Outdoor loveseats Blocks under woven frames Deep-seating geometry — start from outdoor cushions

Yours differs? That’s the point — we cut to your numbers.

How to Measure a Loveseat Cushion

  • First decide joined vs blocks: pull the old cushion — one piece with a seam you can feel, or two — and replace like with like; the frame cannot tell you, the old build can.
  • Measuring for custom loveseat cushions — dimensions taken edge to edge for an exact factory cut
  • Measure the deck seam to seam to the nearest quarter inch, and sketch the T-arm notch with dimensions labeled if the seat runs forward under the arms — the full method is in how to measure a T-cushion sofa.
  • Backs: height, width and loft — order to the frame, not to the flattened old pads, which lost their loft years before the covers wore out.
  • Foam by duty: 45D for a guest-room loveseat, 50–60D for the daily seat — the front edge is where light foam fails first.

    Foam Density, Then Fabric

Custom loveseat cushions construction close-up — foam core, fabric and stitching detail

Loveseats are daily-duty couches in a small package, so the fill decision comes first: 45D for guest rooms, 50–60D for the seat the household actually lives on — the comparison is unpacked in our high density foam guide. Fabric follows the room: cotton linen for the breathable natural weave, premium velvet for formal rooms and claw resistance, tech fabric where pets and spills rule. And before ordering full cushions, check which layer actually died — covers, inserts and full cushions are three different jobs, compared in our covers guide. Loveseats with sound covers can order just the inner layer — foam cores for couch cushions at the same density grades.

    Outdoor Loveseat Cushions

    • Outdoor loveseats run the same two-seat geometry under woven frames, at deep-seating scale: blocks of 22–28 wide by 23–27 deep with lofted backs, full weather duty. The build wants weatherproof fabric over vented foam core — start from the customizer with outdoor fabrics preselected, or see wicker chair cushions for the woven-frame specifics. The joined-vs-blocks question on this page transfers unchanged; the build does not.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I order standard loveseat cushion sizes?

Yes — standard sizes too, in 3 clicks: two-block builds cluster at 20–23 inch squares — the 22 × 22 square is a common fit — and typing the numbers into the customizer gets the same instant factory-direct quote. The joined one-piece deck is the part the aisle rarely stocks and the reason this page exists.

Are loveseat cushions one piece or two?

Both exist: some makers build one joined 44–48 inch deck, others two separate blocks — pull the old cushion and replace like with like. Joined decks have no mid-seam to lose coins into; blocks rotate individually.

What size is a loveseat cushion?

A joined deck runs 44–48 wide by 21–24 deep at 4.5–5.5 inches; two-block builds run two of 20–23 × 21–24. T-cushion arms extend the seat forward — the notch adds itself to every dimension it touches.

Can I use sofa cushions on a loveseat?

Dimensionally, if the blocks match. Structurally, check the build first — a joined-deck loveseat wants a joined replacement, and T-arm notches do not trim themselves to fit at home.

How much do replacement loveseat cushions cost?

From $45 make-base plus area at per-sq-ft rates — a joined 44 × 23 × 5 deck runs about $261, so a full set with backs lands in the low hundreds: a fraction of re-upholstery or a new frame.

How long does a custom loveseat cushion take?

Every cushion is cut and sewn after you order — production is 4–7 business days, and rush production is 3–5 business days for a surcharge. Production is separate from delivery (3–6 weeks door to door); typical US custom shops quote 3–6 weeks for the same build, and we ship direct from our own workshop.

How do I clean and care for the fabric?

Wipes handle the daily work — and every cover unzips for machine washing when a full clean is due. Tech Fabric is the easy one: a waterproof surface that wipes clean with a damp cloth. Cotton Linen spot-cleans, with a low-heat iron on the reverse if it creases. Velvet can be dry cleaned or gently hand washed, brushing the pile flat to dry; Chenille is spot clean only — never brush the tufts. See all fabric options in the configurator, and zoom the weave shots before you commit.

What if my measurements turn out wrong?

Contact us with photos and the measurements you confirmed, so we can review the build against your numbers. If the mistake is ours — outside the ±½″ tolerance, wrong fabric, wrong build — the cushion is remade free, any time. If the confirmed number was simply off, the cushion was cut right; we’ll help you re-measure so the replacement fits the first time.

Is a Loveseat Cushion Right for You?

    • Joined deck or two blocks — the old build decides. The frame cannot tell you which it wore; the old cushion can, and replacing like with like is the honest rule — a joined one-piece has a seam you can feel across the middle, two blocks rotate and wear independently.
    • T-cushion arms need the notch drawn. Seats that run forward under each arm need a labeled sketch with the notch dimensions — a plain rectangle ordered for a T-cushion loveseat arrives with the arms sitting on foam.
    • Unsure about color? Email the factory before you order. Screens shift color, and living light shifts it again — send a photo of where the cushion will live and we will tell you honestly how each fabric reads in that spot. The two-minute email is cheaper than a wrong-color guess.
    • Custom-cut means non-returnable. Custom-cut means non-returnable. A cushion cut to your numbers fits exactly one frame on earth — tolerances are published in writing (±½″, ±¾″ over 36″), and anything outside them against your confirmed numbers is remade free, whenever the error is found.

Made by the factory that ships them

    • Outdoor cushion factory for 10+ years — we cut, fill, and sew every order ourselves.
    • Every dimension you send is re-checked before a single yard of fabric is cut.
    • Made-to-order means any fabric, any piece, no minimum.
    • If we cut it wrong — outside the ±½″ tolerance (±¾″ over 36″), wrong fabric, wrong build — remade free.
