Description

Build Your Lounge Chair Cushion

A lounge chair is the low-slung horizontal lounger — deep seat, reclined or backless, a deck that runs 70 to 80 inches on the long models — and it is not a chaise: no hinge line, no vertical spine, a different word family and a different measuring job. Like every lounger, the frames outlast the cushions by years and the stock aisle sells none of the lengths exactly.

We cut lounge chair cushions to your frame’s numbers — seat length, width, thickness, back pad if the frame takes one — in one production run so a set matches in loft and dye lot. Indoor loungers and outdoor lounge chairs are the same cutting-table job; the fabric tier is what the placement decides.

*One lounge seat (72 × 23 × 4 in.): $45 make-base + 11.5 sq ft × rate ($29.47 per sq ft, 4" 50D foam + fabric, all fabrics one price). Back pads, double loungers and full sets price on their own area at the same formula.

Custom lounge chair cushions, made to your measurements — tailored scene

For comparison: U.S. custom-configurator specialists’ 2026 listings run made-to-order cushions well above formula price once configured — and most only reveal that number after a quote request. The pricing math is right on the page — every dollar of the estimate traces back to a dimension you can measure.

Popular Lounge Chair Sizes We Cut

Piece Typical size Notes
Standard lounge seat 70–74 L × 22–24 W × 4–5" The classic horizontal lounger length — 72 × 23 is the center of gravity
Extra-long lounge 75–80 L × 24–26 W × 5" The 77 × 24 and 80-inch tails; measure, never assume
Lounge back pad 20–24 W × 18–22 H, 3–5" loft Reclined-angle backs want loft, not just footprint
Double lounger 60–72 W, two seats side by side Measured as the two pieces it actually is
Hinged chaise-style lounge 46–60 L with a hinge line The vertical cousin lives on the chaise page

How to Measure a Lounge Chair Cushion

  • Measure the deck end to end and front to back to the nearest quarter inch — on long loungers measure the width at both ends; decks taper more than they look from above.
  • Thickness against seat height: 4–5 inches is the lounging spec; on low frames thicker starts to feel like climbing.
  • Back pads: height from the deck to the top edge and the loft at bottom and top — reclined-angle backs are thicker at the bottom by design.
  • On smooth decks, plan for an exact-fit cut — and a thin non-slip rug pad underneath if the lounger gets dragged around.

One Cut, Two Fabric Worlds

Custom lounge chair cushions construction close-up — foam core, fabric and stitching detail

Lounge chairs live on both sides of the house, so the fabric decision is about placement: indoor loungers take the breathable naturals (cotton linen) and formal picks (premium velvet); outdoor lounge chairs want the weatherproof tier (tech fabric, wipe-clean) over a vented foam core. The customizer opens with all fabrics in view — the tier-by-tier comparison is in the fabric guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can I order standard lounge chair cushion sizes?

Yes — standard sizes too, in 3 clicks: most lounge decks cluster at 70–74 inches long by 22–24 wide at 4–5 thick — type those numbers into the customizer for the same instant factory-direct quote. Length is where loungers wander, so the tape measure still pays.

What’s the difference between a lounge chair and a chaise lounge cushion?

The build direction: a chaise lounge runs long and vertical with a hinge or fold line where the back meets the seat (46–75 inches, usually hinged); a lounge chair is the low horizontal lounger — a deep deck, often backless or with a loose back pad. Different word families, different measuring jobs — the chaise build is on the chaise page.

Do you make outdoor lounge chair cushions?

Yes — the same cut with the outdoor build: weatherproof fabric over a vented foam core and UV-stable thread. The fabric logic is in the fabric guide.

Do you cut 77 × 24 or 80-inch lounge cushions?

Yes — any length. Fabric comes off the bolt at 54 inches, so long loungers get a planned seam across the width (stronger than two pieces abutting), and extra-long decks are confirmed with you before we cut. The 75–80 inch tails are where measuring earns its keep.

How thick should a lounge chair cushion be?

4–5 inches for lounging hours — the deck is for leaning back, not dining upright. On low-slung frames check the seat height first: every inch of cushion is an inch of climb.

How long does a custom cushion take?

Made to order in 4–7 business days — rush production is 3–5 business days for a surcharge — delivered in 3–6 weeks door to door. Typical US custom shops quote 3–6 weeks for the same build; we publish the number instead of burying it in a quote.

Is a Custom Lounge Chair Cushion Right for You?

  • Past 54 inches there is a planned seam. Fabric comes off the bolt at 54 inches, so 70–80 inch loungers get a sewn seam across the width — stronger than two pieces abutting, and confirmed with you before anything is cut. If an unbroken surface is the requirement, the physics of the bolt says otherwise.
  • Machine washing is not on the menu. Every cover closes with a zipper around its foam, so the cleaning spec is a damp cloth and mild soap between washes — and a cover-off wash when due. A machine cycle is how a custom cushion dies years early.
  • Unsure about color? Ask the factory first. Screens shift color and afternoon sun shifts it again. Send a photo of where the piece will live and we will tell you straight how each fabric reads in that spot — the two-minute email beats a wrong-color guess.
  • Custom-cut means non-returnable. A pad cut to your numbers fits exactly one frame on earth. Tolerances are published in writing (±½″, ±¾″ over 36″); anything outside them against your confirmed numbers is remade free, whenever the error is found.

Made by the factory that ships them

  • Outdoor cushion factory for 10+ years — we cut, fill, and sew every order ourselves.
  • Every dimension you send is re-checked before a single yard of fabric is cut.
  • Made-to-order means any fabric, any piece, no minimum.
  • If we cut it wrong — outside the ±½″ tolerance (±¾″ over 36″), wrong fabric, wrong build — remade free.
