Description

Build Your Wicker Chaise Cushion

Built for woven wicker & rattan chaise frames — the tapered, curved-back profiles they’re famous for. A wicker chaise is not a rectangle: the seat runs wide and straight at the foot, narrows to a curve where the weave wraps the back, and no two brands taper it the same way. That’s why off-the-shelf pads bunch at the front edge and gap at the curve, and why the big-box replacement for your set was discontinued years ago.

We solve it the factory way: send us four numbers — front width along the straight edge, back width along the curve, seat depth, and thickness — and we cut, fill, and sew a cushion that follows your frame’s taper instead of fighting it. Any of our our fabrics, in the exact shape your weave deserves.

How to Measure a Wicker Chaise Cushion

Wicker chaise cushions trip people up because both long edges can be different widths — and only one of them is straight. Measure in this order, cushion flat on a table, never the frame:

  • Front width — along the straight edge. The foot end of a woven chaise is almost always a clean straight line across. Measure it edge to edge, seam to seam.
  • Back width — along the curve. Where the pad meets the backrest, the edge bows. Hold the tape along the widest span of that curve, following its arc, and note both ends.
  • Depth — front edge to back edge at the center of the pad, the distance the taper travels.
  • Thickness at the side seam. For tapered-thickness builds, note front and back thickness separately (see below).

Fabric for Full-Sun Wicker

Woven chaises live on open patios and pool decks, so fabric earns its tier. Cotton linen is the value pick for covered porches, tech fabric takes full-sun outdoor duty, premium velvet leads with softness where the chaise sits in a sunroom. Same tapered cut in every fabric — see the full fabric guide for the tier-by-tier comparison.

The Wicker Chaise Family, Piece by Piece

  • The trapezoid profile is the classic wicker chaise shape: front edge straight, back edge curved and narrower. Customers write to us convinced their pad is a one-off — it isn’t. Two widths and a depth describe it completely, and we cut it every week.
  • Tapered-thickness builds — thicker at the front where you sit, thinner at the back where the weave rises — are a signature of better woven chaises. Give us front and back thickness and we sew the wedge.
  • Resin wicker or natural rattan — the weave never changes the cut, only the fabric tier the placement earns. Outdoor resin frames get weatherproof fabric; covered natural rattan can take any tier. Measuring logic lives in the wicker chaise guide.

Frequently asked questions

Why are the front and back of my wicker chaise cushion different widths?

Because the frame is. Woven chaise bodies taper from a wide, straight foot to a narrower curved back — a trapezoid with one rounded edge. The cushion follows the frame, so we need each width measured separately: front along the straight edge, back along the curve.

My cushion looks like a trapezoid — is that a problem?

Not at all. It’s the most common wicker chaise shape we cut. A customer wrote to us recently worried her measurements were wrong because “the front is 19 inches but the back is only 16.” That’s a textbook tapered profile — send both numbers and we cut the taper exactly.

Can the cushion be thicker at the front than the back?

Yes — tapered thickness is a common upgrade on woven chaises, typically 5″ at the seat tapering to 3″ at the back. Give us both thicknesses and the side profile is sewn as a wedge, matching frames whose weave rises toward the backrest.

Will a standard chaise pad fit my wicker chaise?

Rarely. Universal pads are rectangles, and woven frames rarely are. If your chaise is close to rectangular — straight back edge, even width — a standard custom chaise cushion in your size is the simpler build; if it tapers, this page’s four-measurement cut is the one.

How long does a custom wicker chaise cushion take?

Made to order in 4–7 business days — rush production is 3–5 business days for a surcharge — delivered in 3–6 weeks door to door. Typical US custom shops quote 3–6 weeks for the same build; we publish the number instead of burying it in a quote.

Is a Custom Wicker Chaise Cushion Right for You?

  • Tapered frames are the norm, not the exception. Woven chaise bodies run wide at the foot and narrow at the back with a curved back edge — front and back widths go on the order as separate numbers, or the pad bunches exactly where you sit. A near-rectangular frame (straight back edge, even width) is the simpler build; most woven ones are not.
  • Day to day, plan on spot cleaning. Covers close with a zipper around the fill, so cleaning is a damp cloth and mild soap between washes — and the cover comes off for a full wash. The fabric spec is chosen for wipes; the washer is not part of the care plan.
  • Unsure about color? Email before you order. Screens shift color and afternoon sun shifts it again — send a photo of where the piece will live and we will answer honestly how each fabric reads in that spot. Two minutes of email beats a wrong-color guess on a non-returnable cut.
  • Custom-cut means non-returnable. A cushion cut to your numbers fits exactly one frame on earth. Tolerances are published in writing (±½″, ±¾″ over 36″); anything outside them against your confirmed numbers is remade free, whenever the error turns up.

Made by the factory that ships them

  • Outdoor cushion factory for 10+ years — we cut, fill, and sew every order ourselves.
  • Every dimension you send is re-checked before a single yard of fabric is cut.
  • Made-to-order means any fabric, any shape — trapezoid cuts are standard work, no minimum.
  • If we cut it wrong — outside the ±½″ tolerance (±¾″ over 36″), wrong fabric, wrong build — remade free.
