The MORABO line at a glance

MORABO is IKEA’s leather-look comfort line – GUNNARED and GRANN BOMSTAD coverings over a low-slung frame with slim 5 1/8-inch armrests, sold in every configuration from armchair to 6-seat sectional. It is one of the most internally consistent lines IKEA makes: seat depth 24 inches and seat height 18 1/2 across the entire range, which makes piece-by-piece rebuilds unusually simple.

Leather-look fabric is honest about one thing: the seat foam underneath carries the comfort. A 45-60D high-resilience core cut to the chart numbers restores the 18 1/2-inch seat height and keeps the front edge years past catalog fill.

Decimal entries to the quarter inch, live estimate. The weekly build list runs from single seats and backs through complete matched sets, with split seat blocks, trim-clearing notched corners, and 2-to-8-inch thickness tiers in between — the per-square-foot formula applies uniformly, so no shape carries a fee.

Wrong series, or a piece missing from the chart? Start from any shape → — your numbers drive the cut.

One depth, twelve pieces: the consistency dividend

MORABO’s quiet superpower is that the entire range shares one seating geometry: 24 inches of depth and an 18 1/2-inch seat height from armchair to six-seat sectional. In practical terms that means a family that owns several MORABO pieces measures one variable, width, and nothing else. The width ladder runs 25 5/8 for the armchair, 55 1/8 for the loveseat, 70 7/8 for the 3-seat sofa, 101 5/8 for the 4-seat sectional with chaise, and every rung uses the same depth and height. Rebuilding two pieces in one order is where this pays: the depth and thickness you establish on the sofa transfer directly to the armchair order.

The line keeps exactly one exception, and it is the one that catches buyers. The sleeper version runs 23 5/8 of depth and 18 1/8 of height, the sole deviation in the catalog, because its seat has to swallow a bed surface measuring 54 3/8 by 78 3/4 when folded flat. Order sleeper cores to the sleeper’s own numbers, never to the 24-inch family standard, or the pads will sit loose in the frames and proud at the front edge. This is the single measurement mistake the line’s consistency makes possible.

On a leather-look covering, the foam underneath does more work than the fabric suggests. Smooth synthetic surfaces conduct temperature, cool for the first minutes in winter and clammy in humid summers, and the loft of the seat decides how much of the evening you spend actually feeling the cover rather than sitting on resilient foam. The ottoman, 25 5/8 wide by 30 3/8 long, reverses the usual proportions, longer than it is wide, so state your orientation when ordering: cut the wrong way round, the seam line runs across the sitting direction and reads instantly as a mistake. Both orientations appear in the chart; only the seam line moves.

Measure before you order

Measuring for custom couch cushions — dimensions taken edge to edge for an exact factory cut

Three minutes with a tape measure prevents the classic IKEA mistake — ordering rounded inch sizes for metric fractions. Measure seam to seam, every distinct block, to the nearest quarter inch per our measuring guide; your numbers are verified against the chart above before anything is cut.

Fabric options

The fit is fixed; the fabric is yours — durable cotton linen, water-resistant wipe-clean tech fabric, or premium velvet that survives cat claws. Indoor jobs use firm 45–60D HR cores; thickness restores the height the seat shipped with.

Is your set really MORABO?

MORABO reads as the leather-look line – tailored coverings, slim metal or wood legs, narrow flat armrests (5 1/8) and a low 31 7/8 overall height. The frame label or order history confirms it (the line is current). The measuring check: seat depth of exactly 24 inches with an 18 1/2 seat height, on a low leather-look frame, is the MORABO fingerprint across every configuration. Full method: our three-step measuring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Seat width 70 7/8 in., seat depth 24 in., seat height 18 1/2 in. – official measurements. The whole line holds the same depth and height; only widths change by configuration.

Depth (24 in.) and seat height (18 1/2 in.) are identical across sofa, loveseat, armchair, ottoman and sectionals – the sleeper runs 23 5/8 deep. Widths follow the piece, so a mixed set rebuilds cleanly: order per position, one run, matched fabric lots.

Yes – that is the standard rebuild. A 45-60D high-resilience core cut to the same footprint restores the published 18 1/2-inch seat height and resists the front-edge collapse that dates leather-look sofas.

The seat rebuilds the same way (78 3/4 x 23 5/8 deck); the folded-out bed surface (54 3/8 x 78 3/4) is a mattress-panel job we quote by measurements – send the numbers and we cut to them.

Cutting and sewing start once the order is in — plan on a 4-7 business-day make-and-ship window: production typically runs 4–7 business days, with a 3–5 business-day rush option on most fabrics.

Spot cleaning covers most days — covers unzip and remove for a full wash when due. Tech Fabric leads on ease: its waterproof face wipes clean. For Cotton Linen, spot clean and iron creases from the back at low heat. Velvet allows dry cleaning or a soft hand wash, with the pile brushed flat as it dries; Chenille is spot-clean territory — never work the tufts with a brush.
