The UPPLAND line at a glance

UPPLAND is the line IKEA built to succeed the discontinued EKTORP – classic rounded arms, loose laundry-friendly covers, and the same 22 7/8-inch seat depth EKTORP made famous. While the pattern is current, factory covers and accessories exist; the piece-level dimensions below are what you need when the foam itself gives out, or when your configuration’s spares rotate away.

One caution that matters here: UPPLAND inherited the design language, not the parts. Nothing EKTORP-branded is a drop-in for a UPPLAND frame – always match the piece against this chart, not the family resemblance. If it turns out you own the predecessor, start from the EKTORP sofa replacement cushions chart instead.

Every dimension field accepts decimals down to the quarter inch, and the running estimate recalculates as you type. What leaves this bench weekly: lone seats and backs, full matched sets, split seat blocks on multi-seat frames, notched corners that clear trim, and thickness anywhere from 2 to 8 inches — one per-square-foot formula covers them all, so no shape carries a surcharge.

Series mismatch, or a piece with no chart entry? Start from any shape → — your numbers drive the cut.

51 5/8 is the key: reading the width ladder from armchair to corner

UPPLAND’s replacement math has a skeleton key: 51 5/8. That is the seat width of the loveseat, and it is also the per-section seat width of the 4-seat corner sectional, which tells you the sectional is built from loveseat-width sections. The rest of the ladder falls into place around it, 22 7/8 of depth and an 18 1/2-inch seat height carried unchanged across every piece, with the sofa at 68 1/8 of seat width and the sofa-with-chaise at 79 7/8. Once you have verified one piece’s depth against the chart, width is the only number you are really solving for.

Living with loose covers changes what the foam underneath goes through. Washable covers mean the cores come out and go back in on a laundry schedule, and each cycle is a chance for edges to scuff and for a core cut slightly generous to work itself into a corner and stay there. Cores cut to the honest chart number, with covers that gather the fit, survive the laundry rotation far longer than a tight interference fit that fights the fabric every wash. If your covers come off monthly, say so when you order, because it argues for a slightly firmer grade that keeps its corners through handling.

Two small pieces complete the system. The ottoman, 24 3/8 wide, sits just wide of the family’s 22 7/8 seat depth, close enough to serve as a footrest that continues a seat at matching height, 18 1/2. And the armchair is the line’s narrowest seat, wrapped in a 43 1/4-inch overall frame, the piece most often confused with a similar-looking chair from the predecessor line. The three-step check for inherited furniture: confirm the depth reads 22 7/8, confirm the seat height reads 18 1/2, and only then trust the width, because the first two numbers are the family signature.

Loveseat one-piece bench run (51 5/8 x 22 7/8)$289$298$322
Ottoman (24 3/8 x 18)$136$139$148

Estimates shown — $45 make-base + area at per-sq-ft rates, cut to order. The final quote gets your sign-off before production. Each cover closes with a zipper and removes for washing.

For comparison: U.S. custom-configurator specialists’ 2026 listings for made-to-order cushions in common sizes (16×16 through 24×24) run roughly $71–$119 before shipping — and most only reveal that price after a quote request. The pricing math is right on the page — every dollar of the estimate traces back to a dimension you can measure.

Official IKEA data throughout — live pages, archived figures, or surviving aftermarket spec tables. Sizes are inch-based, and fractions like 22 7/8 or 23 5/8 come from metric origins — have the fraction cut, never the rounded inch.

Measure before you order

Measuring for custom sofa cushions — dimensions taken edge to edge for an exact factory cut

Three minutes with a tape measure prevents the classic IKEA mistake — ordering rounded inch sizes for metric fractions. Measure seam to seam, every distinct block, to the nearest quarter inch per our measuring guide; your numbers are verified against the chart above before anything is cut.

Fabric options

Three fabric families cover most projects — all fabrics, one price: breathable cotton linen for covered spots, tech fabric for weather, premium velvet for indoor polish. Indoor rebuilds run 45–60D HR foam, thickness chosen so the seat sits at its original height again.

Is your set really UPPLAND?

UPPLAND and EKTORP look like siblings – rounded arms, loose covers. The reliable tell is the frame label or order history (the line is current, so ikea.com resolves it exactly), then the chart: UPPLAND’s sofa seat runs 68 1/8 wide where EKTORP’s 3-seat overall ran 85 7/8. Different frames, different parts. Full method: our three-step measuring guide.

Frequently asked questions

Seat width 68 1/8 in., seat depth 22 7/8 in., seat height 18 1/2 in. – official measurements. The full line is in the chart above.

No. UPPLAND inherited EKTORP’s 22 7/8-inch seat depth and design language, but the frames and covers are their own. Match your piece against the UPPLAND chart – and if it is actually an EKTORP frame, use the EKTORP chart.

Yes – that is the standard reason to rebuild. Factory fill is honest catalog spec; a 45-60D high-resilience core cut to the same footprint runs firmer for longer, and ordering the whole set in one run keeps fabric lots matched.

Spot cleaning covers most days — covers unzip and remove for a full wash when due. Tech Fabric leads on ease: its waterproof face wipes clean. For Cotton Linen, spot clean and iron creases from the back at low heat. Velvet allows dry cleaning or a soft hand wash, with the pile brushed flat as it dries; Chenille is spot-clean territory — never work the tufts with a brush. See each of the 119 fabrics enlarged in the configurator first.

Cut and sewn only after you order — a 4-7 business-day make-and-ship window: production runs 4–7 business days, with 3–5 day rush available for most fabrics, then shipped direct from our workshop.

The seat runs 79 7/8 × 22 7/8 in. at an 18 1/2 in. seat height (frame 101 5/8 × 64 5/8 in. overall). The chaise pad is the piece to measure twice: its footprint runs the full 64 5/8 in. frame depth, not the 22 7/8 in. sofa seating depth — measure the chaise pad seam to seam on its own before ordering.

No — the ottoman is its own cut. It runs 24 3/8 in. wide at the same 18 1/2 in. height, narrower than a seat position, and it gets bench-duty foam rather than seating foam. The chart row exists precisely so it is ordered as its own piece instead of “one more seat.”
