The Monticello line at a glance
Monticello is a compact, deep-seated Hampton Bay line from Home Depot: a lounge chair, a three-seat sofa and an ottoman, all built on generous 25-inch square seats — a touch wider than the 23"–24" that most Hampton Bay lines use. That extra inch is invisible until a generic pad goes on and swims in the frame.
We cut every Monticello piece to the original factory dimensions below — 25" squares and all — in cotton linen, tech fabric, or premium velvet, made and sent by the same workshop.
Check three things: (1) the white label under the seat frame or inside the arm — Hampton Bay model numbers usually start with a supplier code like GLD or THD; (2) your Home Depot order history or the original manual; (3) a tape measure — 25-inch square seats across the line — wider than typical — with a compact 23" × 17" ottoman. Start your ID with the ottoman
Before you measure anything else on a Monticello set, flip the ottoman pad over. The original was sewn as a 23 x 17-inch box, four inches thick, finished with a double welt seam, a waterfall front and back, and a zipper running along the bottom panel. That combination — compact footprint, twin piping, hidden closure — is uncommon across the Hampton Bay range, and it is the fastest fingerprint this line offers.
The seats have their own quiet advantage. At a true 25 x 25 inches, every Monticello seat pad is square, and square pads can be rotated a quarter-turn every few weeks to spread the compression zones around instead of letting one corner take the brunt. Few replacement lines offer that trick, because few run perfectly square; here it is built in, and it is the simplest life-extension habit available to you. Note too that the ottoman rides a slightly slimmer 4-inch profile against the seats’ 5 — the whole set steps down in height as your eye moves toward the floor.
A complete published Monticello set is nine pads: two for the lounge chair, six for the sofa, one ottoman. If the whole set has aged together, replacing everything in one pass keeps the color and loft uniform; if only the seats have gone flat — seats almost always surrender before backs, since they carry the body weight — ordering the three sofa seats and the chair seat first is a reasonable staging, with the backs and ottoman following when they slump.
Planning a Monticello arrangement? Work from the 25-inch module: each sofa position occupies that width plus arms, so sketch the patio to scale before committing the sofa’s direction. And because the ottoman is a modest 23 x 17, it tucks between chairs as a connector table when the seating circle tightens — the same pad serving as footrest, seat or surface depending on where the evening goes.
