One pad or two — the loveseat’s defining question

Hampton Bay loveseats come in two builds, and they are not interchangeable. Four series (Kampar, Melbourne, Middletown, Pacific Grove) use a single one-piece pad 45 to 49 inches wide spanning both seats. The other eight ship two separate cushions, each 22.5 to 28 inches wide. Which one you have dictates what you order — the chart below lists both, series by series.

Identify yours in three steps: (1) count the cushions — one slab or two blocks; (2) read the white label under the seat frame for the series name; (3) measure the full inside width between the arms and compare with the chart.

Where loveseat replacements go wrong

The classic misorder: a one-piece pad bought for a two-cushion frame. It bridges the center seam support and flexes in the middle within weeks. If your original was two cushions, order two cushions — the frame was built for that seam.

Going the other way is sometimes deliberate: two worn-out blocks replaced by one solid slab. It can work on a flat deck, but only if the full inside width between the arms is measured and the center of the deck is flat — a raised center rail makes a one-piece pad rock. Measure the deck, not the old cushions.

Watch the two odd shapes in the chart. Pacific Grove’s one-piece pad is a trapezoid — 49 inches along the front edge, 46 at the back — and cutting it as a rectangle leaves visible overhang. Melbourne ran both a 49-inch and a 51-inch loveseat; the label alone won’t tell you which, the tape will.

Thickness runs 4 to 6 inches across the twelve series, and Verrado sits at the plush end with a 6-inch build. As with every Hampton Bay piece: width from the old pad edge to edge, depth front rail to seat back, thickness seam to seam.

Frequently asked questions

One-piece or two-seat cushions — which do I need?

Whichever your frame shipped with. One-piece pads (Kampar, Melbourne, Middletown, Pacific Grove) span both seats on a flat deck; two-cushion builds sit on a frame with a center seam support. Replacing two blocks with one slab only works on a verified flat deck — measure it before deciding.

Can I switch from two cushions to one solid pad?

Sometimes — if the deck is flat between the arms with no raised center rail, a one-piece pad can replace two blocks. Measure the full inside width and check the deck surface. We cut either configuration to your numbers.

Why does my Melbourne loveseat measure 51 inches, not 49?

Melbourne ran two loveseat widths — 49 and 51 inches. The label doesn’t distinguish them; the tape does. Both are charted on the Melbourne series page, and both are cut on request.

A photo helps identify the series, but the cut follows your tape numbers. Upload both — photo plus width × depth × thickness — and your figures get checked against the chart before the first cut.
