Across the 24 measured Hampton Bay series, exactly one is a glider: the Edington 48-inch glider bench, a two-seat frame that sweeps back and forth on a fixed track. Its cushion is a single full-width pad — 48 × 21.5 inches, 5 inches thick — spanning both seats. The Edington line also includes a swivel lounge chair and an ottoman; those charts live on the series page.
Confirming yours is the Edington bench: (1) it seats two on one pad; (2) the frame glides fore-aft on an exposed track rather than rocking on rockers; (3) the tape reads close to 48 × 21.5. Hampton Bay also sold rocker-style pieces under other names — if yours rocks on curved rockers or seats one, it’s a different line: send a photo and we’ll place it.
What a moving frame changes about cushions
A glider pad lives on a seat that travels several inches fore and aft every minute of use. Anything that anchors the cushion to a fixed point fights that motion — so the OEM design skips external fasteners entirely. The pad stays put the honest way: a close fit to the seat’s inside dimensions and fabric with enough surface grip.
That’s the brief we cut to. Exact dimensions taken from your old pad, edge to edge, so the cushion fills the seat without slack to shift in. We don’t add ties, and we don’t promise non-slip backing treatments — on a gliding frame those features either interfere with the motion or over-promise. Fit and fabric do the work.
The one-piece design matters too. Two separate pads on the Edington bench drift apart at the center seam within a few glide cycles. The original is one slab for a reason; we rebuild it as one slab, 48 inches wide, or re-cut to your exact figures if yours measures different.
Thickness rounds out the brief: 5 inches of foam on the seat, matched by a full-width back. Thinner pads sink the sitter toward the frame and let the pad wander; the OEM thickness is the tested one.
