By the time most Camrose owners look for replacement pads, the fabric has already told the story: faded stripes, a seat pan worn shiny, maybe a zipper that gave up before the foam did. Choosing the next cover fabric for where your set actually sits is the decision that decides how long round two lasts.
Match the fabric to your yard, not the catalog photo
Fabric failure on patio furniture is environmental before it’s cosmetic. The same cotton that serves a screened porch for a decade can go tight and tired on a west-facing deck in two summers. So the Camrose replacement decision starts with an honest look upward and around: how many hours of direct sun hits the set, whether rain finds it, and what falls on it — pine pollen, bird traffic, a dog who claims the corner chair.
The 119-fabric menu at CushionMill groups into three working families, and every family prices identically — the quote moves with cushion size and foam density, never with fabric choice. Here’s the shorthand our customers actually use:
| Fabric family | Built for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Cotton linen | Covered porches, sunrooms, screened areas | Breathable and soft; wants shelter from sustained weather |
| Tech fabric | Open patios, full sun, rain exposure | Water-resistant and wipe-clean; slightly cooler hand than cotton |
| Premium velvet | Pets, claws, high-traffic lounging | Toughest surface in the menu; richer look, heavier drape |
A rule of thumb from ten years of orders: if you hesitated between two families, pick the more weather-capable one. Nobody regrets fabric that over-performs its exposure; plenty regret the reverse.
Washing rhythm for fabric that lives outside
Whatever family carries your Camrose rebuild, the maintenance calendar matters as much as the original choice — and it is short enough to memorize. Rinse dust and pollen off with a hose monthly during the season; spot-wipe spills the day they happen while they still sit on the surface; and run a full gentle-cycle wash on all covers at season’s end before storage. That closing wash is the one owners skip and regret: grime that overwinters on fabric sets into the weave and spends the following spring working on the yarns. Drying happens in the shade, zipped back on the foam only after both pieces are fully dry — a damp cover sealed over its core for a week in a deck box is how musty sets are made.
The three families also feel different under hand and body, which no catalog page conveys honestly. Cotton linen runs cool and slightly crisp at first, softening over a season into the comfortable Broken-in feel people associate with a favorite shirt. Tech fabric reads smooth and dense, with the faint technical slickness that lets water bead and spills release — some owners describe it as the “new car” of patio fabrics, a quality that fades into ordinary comfort after a few weeks of use. Premium velvet is the outlier: a short dense pile that stays plush indefinitely, warms quickly in filtered sun, and costs nothing extra over the other two despite feeling like an upgrade. All three hide seam wear differently too — linen shows its seams honestly, tech fabric barely shows them at all, and velvet’s pile makes every seam disappear into shadow.
Getting the size right on an uncharted line
Camrose, like most Hampton Bay series beyond the flagship names, never had a published cushion chart. The retail figures that float around describe boxed furniture dimensions, not pad dimensions, so nobody’s order should rest on them. Your own measurements are the whole specification: width where the pad sits (between arms, not across them), depth along the seat deck, thickness at the seam — taken per cushion, because seats and backs are separate pads with separate figures.
The measurement guide library walks each dimension with photographs. Budget five minutes for a chair, twenty for a full set. When the numbers go into the configurator, the workshop re-checks them against your piece count before anything is cut — a figure that looks off triggers a question, not a silent guess. And the cut lands inside ±½″ (±¾″ beyond 36″), with free remakes on our side of that line.
Is it actually a Camrose?
For identification, the fastest instrument is the white tag under the seat frame or inside an arm — model numbers there usually follow a GLD or THD supplier prefix. Close behind sits your Home Depot order history: search the account for the series name and the original line item resolves it. The assembly manual from the box carries the name on its cover if the paperwork survived the move.
Camrose, the name, belongs to a Canadian prairie city — so broad web searches surface hockey rinks and real estate before furniture. Keep the identification to your own evidence. And remember that Hampton Bay built the series across model years with running tweaks: arm profiles and cushion heights drifted even as the name stayed put, which is one more reason pads here are cut to measured figures rather than a nominal chart entry that may describe a different production year than yours.
Tag gone, paperwork gone? Photos of the frame — weave, arms, feet — usually settle the name within a day, before any order is placed.
Pricing the rebuild
Each custom cushion opens at a $45 make-base and climbs with the two variables that actually cost money to build: size, and foam density across the 35D–65D range. Standard lounging comfort lives around 45D–50D; daily-duty seating firms up nicely at 60D+. Fabric never moves the number — the 119 options are priced flat, so choosing the heavy-duty tech fabric over a basic solid costs you nothing but better weather tolerance.
Sets and singles price through the same configurator: refit the whole Camrose conversation group in one batched quote, or replace the one chair the dog claimed. No minimums, no small-order fees, and the confirmed quote precedes any cutting.

Neighboring series on the uncharted list — Laguna and Salem — follow the same fabric-and-figures route. The Kampar line has its own chart-backed page, and the Hampton Bay index lists every series we track.
Frequently asked questions
Which fabric survives a full-south exposure best?
Of the three families, tech fabric takes sustained sun and rain with the least complaint — it sheds water, wipes clean, and holds color through seasons of UV. Cotton linen prefers at least a roof or a screen between it and the weather.
Do all 119 fabrics really cost the same?
Yes — fabric choice never changes the quote on a given size and density. The price levers are the measurements you enter and the foam you select, both shown live in the configurator.
How do I know my set is a Camrose and not a lookalike?
Check the white tag under the seat frame for a GLD/THD-prefixed model number first; your Home Depot order history is the second stop. If both came up empty, photos to the workshop usually resolve it the same day.
A note on expectations: no outdoor fabric is immortal, and even the right choice fades on a long enough timeline — the win is choosing a family whose aging pattern you can live with, and washing it often enough to slow the clock. Orders from this workshop carry the same tolerance guarantee regardless of fabric: ±½″ on every dimension, with free remakes if the build misses.
Can I order just one replacement pad for a single worn chair?
Absolutely — single-cushion orders are routine, with no minimum and no small-batch premium. Send width, depth, and thickness for that one pad and it enters production like any set piece.
What happens if the finished size is off?
Our cut is guaranteed within ±½″ — ±¾″ on dimensions past 36″. Outside that band, or on a wrong fabric or wrong build, the piece is remade free of charge.
How should I plan delivery timing?
Standard production is 4–7 business days after confirmation, 3–5 on a rush flag, with 3–6 weeks of shipping on top for most US addresses. Order a full set in late winter and it lands before the first barbecue invitation.
