Sydney — a Hampton Bay series guide (identify & re-cushion, 2026)

No published cushion spec for the Sydney line — here’s how to confirm yours and order replacement pads cut to your own three measurements.

The Sydney line at a glance

Sydney is a Hampton Bay wicker line sold through Home Depot, most often encountered as an all-weather resin-wicker group — dining chairs, swivel chairs, and small conversation sets — in grey or mixed-brown weaves over an aluminum frame. The profile leans lighter and more upright than Hampton Bay’s deep-seating wicker lines: slimmer arms, shallower seat decks, a dining-chair silhouette rather than a lounge one.

Which is why a “Sydney cushion” can’t be cut from a stock chart. Confirm the line below, measure the old pad or seat deck, and we sew Sydney replacement cushions to your three numbers per block — any of 119 fabrics, built by the workshop that ships them.

Open the Customizer

Check three things: (1) the white label under the seat frame or inside the arm — Hampton Bay model numbers usually start with a supplier code like GLD or THD; (2) your Home Depot order history or the original manual, searchable by “Sydney”; (3) the weave — fine, even resin strands in grey or brown point here, chunky boxy weaves point to other lines. Our full measuring guide walks you through it.

How to tell you have the Sydney

The weave is the first tell: Sydney pieces commonly run a smooth, even resin wicker — narrow strands wound tight and machine-uniform — in grey or two-tone brown. Cheaper big-box wicker looks braided or coarse by comparison; Sydney’s read closer to a woven textile than a basket.

Frame and arms narrow it further: the aluminum subframe is fully sleeved by the weave, and the arms curve down into the front legs in a single sweep — no flat shelf arm, no exposed metal. Sydney swivel chairs add a round base ring under the seat; that ring alone rules out most lookalikes in one glance.

Don’t confuse it with: Tobago and other Hampton Bay deep-seating wicker lines — those run wider, boxier arms and thicker weaves meant for lounging, while Sydney sits taller and narrower for dining. Grey-weave sets from the same seasons are the real trap; the model number on your Home Depot receipt or order history settles it in one search.

Seasons matter: Home Depot sold Sydney in different piece counts and weave tones across model years — same series name, slightly different arm sweeps and pad lofts. Two “Sydney chairs” bought a few seasons apart can take different pads, which is why we cut to your measurements instead of a single assumed chart.

Why there is no official Sydney size chart

>What to check >What the Sydney commonly shows >Don’t confuse it with
>Weave >Fine, even resin wicker — grey or two-tone brown >Chunky boxy deep-seating weaves
>Frame >Aluminum subframe fully sleeved by the weave >Exposed tubular steel or sling fabric
>Arms >Slim, curving into the front legs — no flat shelf >Tobago-style wide squared arms
>Giveaway >Swivel versions carry a round base ring under the seat >No ring on lookalike dining chairs
>Retailer >Home Depot exclusive, boxed sets >Lowe’s grey-wicker lines

Hampton Bay doesn’t publish spec sheets for every line — Sydney’s cushion dimensions were never released in an official manual, and retail listings describe the furniture, not the pads inside it. Rather than republish guesses, we leave the size chart out on purpose: measure your own piece and we cut to your numbers.

Reading the chart: identification cues are general guidance from retail listings and owner reports — the tag or your Home Depot order record is the deciding evidence. Sydney shipped in several model years, so frames can differ from the cues above.
Independent workshop: CushionMill is not affiliated with Hampton Bay or Home Depot. Series names are used to identify the frame you own — every cushion is cut to your measurements, not sold as an official Sydney part.

Tag gone and receipt lost? Send a photo of the frame and we’ll help narrow the line — then it’s three numbers per cushion and your order is in production.

Measure before you order

Measure first: three minutes with our measuring guide — width, depth, and thickness at the seam, written down per cushion, not per set. Without a factory chart these three numbers are the entire spec: every Sydney cushion we sew is cut to them and nothing else.

Closest Hampton Bay neighbors with live measurement charts: Beverly (deep-seating modulars) and Cambridge (five-piece dining) — each with its own dimension chart. The full 24-series index sits on the Hampton Bay page.

Fabric options & estimated pricing

Same measured cut, every fabric one price. Cotton linen is the durable everyday pick; tech fabric is water-resistant and wipes clean; premium velvet delivers the high-end look and stands up to cat claws.

Weighing fabrics? The fabric menu inside the order flow— the cut is identical, every fabric one price.

>What you order >What we need from you >How pricing works
>Single cushion >Three numbers: width × depth × thickness at the seam >Set by size and foam density — every fabric one price
>Complete piece (seat + back) >Three numbers per cushion block >Priced per piece — order any count, no minimums
>Full Sydney set >A count of pieces, piece by piece >Batched in the configurator — quote confirmed before anything is cut

Custom cushions start from a $45 make-base and scale with size and foam density (35D to 65D) — every fabric one price, the final quote settled at checkout, nothing cut before your numbers are confirmed. Covers close with a zippered closure (covers remove for washing).

Frequently asked questions

Does Hampton Bay still sell Sydney cushions?

Not reliably. Sydney ran through Home Depot season by season, and original pads disappear once a run ends. We rebuild Sydney cushions from scratch — to your measurements, in any of 119 fabrics.

Will universal cushions fit a Sydney chair?

Rarely well. Wicker dining chairs are cut to narrow, tailored seat decks, and universal pads usually overrun the deck or sit too thin — they slide, gap at the back, or ride proud of the weave. Measured replacements sit the way the originals did.

How do I confirm my set is really Sydney?

The white label under the seat frame or inside an arm carries the model number (usually behind a GLD or THD supplier code); your Home Depot order history or the original manual names the series outright. The weave and arm cues in the chart above narrow it when the tag is gone.

Can you make cushions without official specs?

Yes — that is our normal route for uncharted lines. You measure width, depth, and thickness per cushion; we re-verify the numbers against the piece count before cutting and sew to your figures.

How much do Sydney replacement cushions cost?

Custom pieces start from a $45 make-base and scale with size and foam density (35D to 65D) — every fabric one price, final quote confirmed before anything is cut.

How long do they take to make and ship?

Every set is cut and sewn after you order — crafted in 4–7 business days, rush service 3–5 business days, then flat-rate shipping to your door; plan on 3–6 weeks door to door.
