Charleston — a Hampton Bay series guide (identify & re-cushion, 2026)
No published spec sheet for the Charleston line — here’s how to confirm yours and order replacement cushions cut to your own three measurements.
The Charleston line at a glance
Charleston is one of Hampton Bay’s longer-running Home Depot lines, and it commonly turns up in one of two builds: a cast-aluminum dining group with ornate scrollwork backs in a dark powder-coat, or an all-weather wicker deep-seating group in warm brown weaves. Both shipped as boxed sets — dining chairs, swivel rockers, sofas, ottomans depending on the season — which is why “Charleston cushions” alone never tells us what to cut.
So we don’t guess. Confirm the line with the cues below, measure the old pad or the seat deck, and we cut Charleston replacement cushions to your figures in any of 119 fabrics — built by the workshop that ships them.
Check three things: (1) the white label under the seat frame or inside the arm — Hampton Bay model numbers usually start with a supplier code like GLD or THD; (2) your Home Depot order history or the original manual, searchable by “Charleston”; (3) the frame itself — cast-aluminum scrollwork and wicker weaves each narrow the list. Our full measuring guide walks you through it.
How to tell you have the Charleston
If your chairs are metal: Charleston dining pieces are most often cast aluminum with a repeating scroll or medallion motif pressed into the backrest, finished in black or oil-rubbed bronze. The arms flow in one continuous curve — no separate arm caps, no vertical slats. Weight is the giveaway: cast aluminum feels denser than the hollow tubular-steel frames on Hampton Bay’s cheaper stacking lines.
If your set is woven: Charleston wicker groups commonly run a wide, half-round resin weave in mixed brown tones over an aluminum frame, with thick rolled arms and deep seat decks. The weave is machine-uniform — the same strand width on every panel — which separates it from hand-woven lookalikes sold the same seasons.
Don’t confuse it with: Hampton Bay’s Santa Rosa line (also cast aluminum, but with straight ladder-back slats instead of scrollwork), and wicker deep-seating lines like Tobago — those run boxier, squared-off arms. When the label is gone, the model number on your Home Depot receipt or order history settles it in one search.
Seasons matter: Home Depot refreshed Charleston across model years — same series name, slightly different arm profiles and cushion lofts. Two “Charleston chairs” bought three years apart can take different pads, which is exactly why we cut to your measurements instead of a single assumed chart.
Why there is no official Charleston size chart
| >What to check | >What the Charleston commonly shows | >Don’t confuse it with |
|---|---|---|
| >Frame | >Cast aluminum (dining) or all-weather wicker over aluminum (deep seating) | >Tubular-steel stacking lines |
| >Backrest | >Scroll or medallion motif on metal; wide half-round weave on wicker | >Santa Rosa’s ladder-back slats |
| >Arms | >One continuous curve on metal; thick rolled arms on wicker | >Tobago’s boxier wicker arms |
| >Label | >White tag under the seat frame or inside an arm, GLD/THD model code | >No tag at all — fall back to the receipt |
| >Retailer | >Home Depot exclusive, sold as boxed sets | >Lowe’s wood and wicker lines |
Hampton Bay doesn’t publish spec sheets for every line — Charleston’s cushion dimensions were never charted in an official manual, and the numbers floating around retail listings describe the whole furniture set, not the pads. Rather than republish guesses, we leave the size chart out on purpose: measure your own piece and we cut to your numbers.
Tag gone and receipt lost? Send a photo of the frame and we’ll help narrow the line — then it’s three numbers per cushion and your order is in production.
Measure before you order
Measure first: three minutes with our measuring guide — width, depth, and thickness at the seam, written down per cushion, not per set. Without a factory chart these three numbers are the entire spec: every Charleston cushion we sew is cut to them and nothing else.
Closest Hampton Bay neighbors with live measurement charts: Beverly (deep-seating modulars) and Cambridge (five-piece dining) — each with its own dimension chart. The full 24-series index sits on the Hampton Bay page.
Fabric options & estimated pricing
Same measured cut, every fabric one price. Cotton linen is the durable everyday pick; tech fabric is water-resistant and wipes clean; premium velvet delivers the high-end look and stands up to cat claws.
Weighing fabrics? The fabric menu inside the order flow— the cut is identical, every fabric one price.

| >What you order | >What we need from you | >How pricing works |
|---|---|---|
| >Single cushion | >Three numbers: width × depth × thickness at the seam | >Set by size and foam density — every fabric one price |
| >Complete piece (seat + back) | >Three numbers per cushion block | >Priced per piece — order any count, no minimums |
| >Full Charleston set | >A count of pieces, piece by piece | >Batched in the configurator — quote confirmed before anything is cut |
Custom cushions start from a $45 make-base and scale with size and foam density (35D to 65D) — every fabric one price, the final quote settled at checkout, nothing cut before your numbers are confirmed. Covers close with a zippered closure (covers remove for washing).

Frequently asked questions
Does Hampton Bay still sell Charleston cushions?
Not reliably. The line cycled through Home Depot season by season, and original pads disappear once a run ends. We rebuild Charleston cushions from scratch — to your measurements, in any of 119 fabrics.
Will universal cushions fit a Charleston chair?
Rarely well. Boxed-set furniture is cut to its own seat decks, and a universal pad that’s close in width is usually wrong in depth or loft — it slides, gaps at the back, or rides proud of the frame. Measured replacements sit the way the originals did.
How do I confirm my set is really Charleston?
The white label under the seat frame or inside an arm carries the model number (usually behind a GLD or THD supplier code); your Home Depot order history or the original manual names the series outright. The frame cues in the chart above narrow it when the tag is gone.
Can you make cushions without official specs?
Yes — that is our normal route for uncharted lines. You measure width, depth, and thickness per cushion; we re-verify the numbers against the piece count before cutting and sew to your figures.
How much do Charleston replacement cushions cost?
Custom pieces start from a $45 make-base and scale with size and foam density (35D to 65D) — every fabric one price, final quote confirmed before anything is cut.
How long do they take to make and ship?
Every set is cut and sewn after you order — crafted in 4–7 business days, rush service 3–5 business days, then flat-rate shipping to your door; plan on 3–6 weeks door to door.
