Corner banquettes, wraparound window benches, sectional corners — none of them are rectangles, and none of them follow a standard size. The big-box pad that fits a straight bench was never going to turn your corner, and the store’s “corner cushion” is cut for their frame, not yours.

One continuous pad, 2 to 8 inches thick, in any of 119 fabrics: soft indoor weaves for the breakfast nook, solution-dyed acrylics for the patio corner that takes the afternoon sun.

How to Measure an L-Shaped Cushion

Long arm first — A is its full outside length, edge to edge; B is its full outside depth, back to front. Both along the outside edge, never into the inside corner.
Short arm second — D is its width along the outside edge; E is how far it reaches past the long arm’s front edge. Two arms, two depths, entered separately.
Don’t count the corner twice — the A × B outside footprint already contains it. That is exactly why both arms are measured on their outside edges and never into the corner.
Have the old cushion? — lay it flat and take the same four numbers off the cover, seam to seam, never squeezed.
No old pad? — measure the bench deck wall to wall and front to back on both arms, and we confirm every number with you before anything is cut.

Fabric for Corners on Both Sides of the Door

L-shapes live on both sides of the door: corner banquettes and nook benches indoors, patio and porch corners out. The same four numbers price in any of the 119 fabrics — pick by where your corner sits, not by what the shape is.

The indoor corner. Breakfast nooks and window benches want soft weaves — cotton linens and velvets that feel right against morning coffee. The outdoor corner. An exposed patio or deck corner works like a greenhouse: ordinary fabric fades within a season or two of full sun, so the spec is solution-dyed acrylic, where the color is in the fiber, not printed on it. We make no fade warranty on any fabric — fading is UV physics, and solution-dyed weaves are simply the ones that resist it longest.

The L-Shapes We Cut Most

Breakfast-nook corners — the two-wall banquette where the table meets the bench. Long arm down one wall, short arm down the other, one continuous pad with the corner built in. This is the classic case: four numbers, one piece, a pad that finally uses the corner instead of apologizing for it.
Wraparound window benches — bay and garden windows that turn a corner. Same four numbers; the pad follows the walls instead of stopping at them, and the seat that was always the spare one becomes the one people argue over.

How do I measure an L-shaped cushion?

Both arms along their outside edges — never into the corner. A is the long arm’s full length, B its full depth, D the short arm’s outside width, E how far the short arm reaches past the long arm’s front edge. Is an L-shaped cushion one piece or two?

One piece is the default — a single continuous pad with the corner built in, which is exactly what the customizer above prices. If you’d rather have two pieces that split at the corner line (easier to flip, rotate and carry), note it when you order and we’ll quote the split as two cushions on the same formula.

Where does the seam go on an L-shaped cushion?

When your dimensions exceed the fabric’s usable width, a seam is unavoidable — the pattern pieces simply don’t fit one bolt of cloth. We plan seam placement together with your confirmed numbers before anything is cut, so nothing surprises you at the door.

Does the inner corner have to be a 90-degree square?

The customizer quotes a square-cornered L — the shape most banquettes and sectionals are built on. Angled or rounded inside corners are one-offs rather than calculator jobs: send photos and your numbers through the inquiry and we’ll tell you straight whether your frame is something we can cut.

How is an L-shaped cushion priced?

Same formula as every shape we cut: a $39 make-base plus fabric by the square foot. The L is measured on its A × B outside footprint, so the corner is never counted twice. A 60 × 24 nook L runs $229/$294/$379 across the three fabric tiers; a bigger 84 × 24 wraparound runs $305/$396/$515.

Can the two arms be different depths?

Yes — that is exactly why the form takes separate numbers. B is the long arm’s depth and E is the short arm’s reach past it, so a 30-inch-deep window side meeting a 24-inch-deep run is four numbers, not a compromise.

Can L-shaped cushions go outdoors?

Yes — the same cut prices in any of the 119 fabrics, including the solution-dyed acrylics built for full sun. For a covered porch, the indoor/outdoor cotton linens hold up fine; for an exposed patio corner, order free swatches of the outdoor tier first and judge the weave by hand.

What tolerance do you cut to?

±½″ in writing (±¾″ over 36″). A finished piece outside tolerance, in the wrong fabric, or wrong build is remade free — the same rule for L-shapes as for every shape we cut.
