Custom Porch Swing Cushions, Made to Your Measurements

Factory-direct, cut to your measurements — any swing, any frame, any fabric.

A porch swing hangs in the open air on four chains, which makes its cushions the most exposed seating in the yard: sun from above, rain from the side, wind from all four directions, and two adults rocking on top. The frame is steel or hardwood and will outlast five sets of cushions; the cushion is fabric and foam and will not. That asymmetry is the whole replacement story.

We solve it the factory way: measure the seat deck — width, depth, and where the chains pass — and we cut, fill and sew a set that fits your exact swing. Seat plus back, two-piece sets that come inside in thirty seconds, ties set to your measured slat gaps and reinforced because we know what a swing does to them. Cotton linen, tech fabric, or premium velvet, made to order by the factory that ships them.

*One 4-ft swing seat (48 × 18 × 3 in.): $39 make-base + 6.0 sq ft × rate ($15.32/$16.43/$17.56 per sq ft, 3" 50D foam + fabric). Larger 5-ft seats and mattress-sized swing-bed sets run higher. Every dimension is confirmed with you before we cut.

For comparison: U.S. custom-configurator specialists’ 2026 listings put swing-bed cushion sets at roughly $200–$650 by size — and most only reveal that price after a quote request. We publish the formula above so you can check the math before you order.

Popular Porch Swing Sizes We Cut

Typical swing deck sizes — useful as a sanity check, not as a size chart (typical, always measure):

PieceTypical sizeNotes
3-ft single swing~33–36 × 17–19 seatThe love-seat-of-one; often canopy swings
4-ft two-seat swing~47–53 × 18–20 seatThe American default; back cushions run 18–24" high
5-ft three-seat swing~58–64 × 18–20 seatDecks get crowded; measure, not assume
Canopy swing (big-box)~48–54 × 18–20 seatFrames vary more than plain swings
Porch swing bedMattress sizes: crib 28 × 52, twin 39 × 75, full 54 × 75Built for lying flat; frames are less standardized than mattresses

Seat thickness runs 2.5–4 inches on swings — thicker starts to feel like climbing onto a mattress, and on a low-hung deck it puts short legs in the air. Backs run 3–5 inches in softer fills.

Yours differs? That’s the point — we cut to your numbers.

How to Measure a Porch Swing Cushion

  • Measure the deck, not the old cushion — the slat platform is the truth. Width across the slats at the front and at the back, depth from the front edge to where the seat meets the back frame, to the nearest quarter inch.
  • Find the chain clearances before sizing the back cushion: chains pass through or beside the armrests at the four corners, and a back wider than the space between the chain lines squeezes the channel or overhangs into the arc.
  • Map the slat gaps on seat and back if you want tie-through fastening — the most secure style on a swing; ties must land in gaps.
  • Weigh thickness against foot height: if the deck already sits at 17–18 inches, stay at 2.5–3 inches so short-legged sitters still reach the porch.

Fabric for Full-Exposure Swings

A swing lives in full sun and moving air — the harshest combination short of a boat deck. Tech fabric takes rain and spills with a wipe-down; premium velvet brings the high-end look and stands up to cat claws; cotton linen is the comfortable pick for covered porches. Add the swing-specific build: four ties instead of two, an anti-slip underside against wind lift, and a two-piece set that comes inside in thirty seconds — the habit that actually extends cushion life. Frequently asked questions

Do you sell standard swing cushion sizes, or only custom?

Standard sizes too — in 3 clicks: the classic 4-ft swing seat runs about 48 × 18 × 3, so if your deck matches, type those numbers into the customizer and get the same instant factory-direct quote. Nothing is warehoused, so a standard size is never out of stock — chain clearances are the part still worth a quick measure.

What size cushion fits a 4-foot porch swing?

A seat cushion around 48–53 × 18–20 inches and a back cushion 18–24 inches high fits most 4-ft swings — but chain clearances and slat gaps vary, so measure the deck and record to the nearest quarter inch before ordering anything.

How do I keep swing cushions from blowing off?

Strap the back cushion through the slat gaps, tie the seat at four corners, and put an anti-slip underside on the seat — a hanging platform catches wind from all four directions, and cushions that are only laid in place will fly eventually.

Can I use a bench cushion on a porch swing?

Dimensionally, often yes — swing seats and benches share the long-deck geometry. Functionally, check two things a bench does not need: tie points that survive pendulum motion, and drainage, since a swing deck traps water against the cushion underside in a way a solid bench top does not.

What foam density should a swing bed cushion use?

45–60D — mattress-duty load on a hanging platform is closer to a heavy-use commercial seat than a chair, and lighter grades dish within a season.
