How to Measure a Chair Cushion
- Measure the deck, not the old pad — width and depth edge to edge to the nearest quarter inch; on wicker and tapered decks, record front and back widths separately.
- Back cushions are their own measurement: height from the seat line, width at the widest point, and the tie positions that land in actual slat or weave gaps.
- Match the fastening to the chair’s habit — motion chairs (rockers, gliders, swings) want tie-through reinforcement; smooth decks want anti-slip.

Do you sell standard chair cushion sizes?
Standard sizes too — in 3 clicks: chair seats cluster at 16–20 inch squares at 2–3 inches thick — stock squares like 18 × 18 and 20 × 20. Type the numbers into the customizer for the same instant factory-direct quote — nothing is warehoused, so no size is ever out of stock.
What is the difference between a chair cushion and a seat cushion?
The words overlap. In our shop’s usage a chair cushion means the chair’s full build — usually seat plus back, matched to the chair type (rocking, Adirondack, wicker) — while a seat cushion is the pad alone. Chair work is where shape and fastening start to matter: fan backs, trapezoid decks, motion-duty ties.
Can you make cushions for rocking chairs?
Yes — rockers take seat-plus-back sets with ties that survive the motion, the build laid out on the rocking chair page.
Can you match a cushion to an odd chair shape?
