How to Measure a Settee Cushion

For a full rebuild, measure the deck the cushion sits on — between the arms, front to back, to the nearest quarter inch; thickness is the knee-height decision, usually 4–5 inches on settees.
For a refill, measure the cover’s interior — seam to seam with the closure open — and deduct a nominal quarter inch per side so the core sits in the cover without fighting it.
Back cushions: height from the seat line and width at the widest point; note whether the backs sit on the seat block or behind it, which changes both heights.
Weigh the density honestly: two adults on one shared block load it like a small sofa — 50D is the standard grade, 60–65D the heavy-traffic answer.
