How to Measure a Lounge Chair Cushion

  • Measure the deck end to end and front to back to the nearest quarter inch — on long loungers measure the width at both ends; decks taper more than they look from above.
  • Thickness against seat height: 4–5 inches is the lounging spec; on low frames thicker starts to feel like climbing.
  • Back pads: height from the deck to the top edge and the loft at bottom and top — reclined-angle backs are thicker at the bottom by design.
  • Note the fastening before ordering — tie points at frame openings, or an anti-slip underside on smooth decks.

What’s the difference between a lounge chair and a chaise lounge cushion?

The build direction: a chaise lounge runs long and vertical with a hinge or fold line where the back meets the seat (46–75 inches, usually hinged); a lounge chair is the low horizontal lounger — a deep deck, often backless or with a loose back pad. Do you cut 77 × 24 or 80-inch lounge cushions?

Yes — any length. Fabric comes off the bolt at 54 inches, so long loungers get a planned seam across the width (stronger than two pieces abutting), and extra-long decks are confirmed with you before we cut. The 75–80 inch tails are where measuring earns its keep.

How thick should a lounge chair cushion be?

4–5 inches for lounging hours — the deck is for leaning back, not dining upright. On low-slung frames check the seat height first: every inch of cushion is an inch of climb.
